“Good parenting”
Before kids, I thought good parenting meant: • Always being patient • Having a perfectly clean house • Cooking healthy meals every night • Kids who listened the first time After kids, I’ve learned good parenting sometimes looks like: • Apologizing when you lose your patience • Chicken nuggets for dinner • A messy house but lots of laughter • Teaching the same lesson 37 times And guess what? That’s okay. Sometimes the best parenting happens through the mistakes we make. Kids don’t need perfect parents. They need safe, loving, consistent ones. 💬 Let’s normalize real life. Drop one thing you thought parenting would be like… and what it’s actually like. 👇

@Kayla Dixon @Cierra Palmer I think real parenting redefines words. In my eyes now I would define peaceful as “my kids are healthy, safe and enjoying life” even if that comes at the expense of all the paint on my walls, or quiet, or possibly involves a toddler trying to jump off everything I own completely unaware of how much anxiety that gives me. Don’t get me wrong though, I still for sure love the peacefulness of a silent room, comfy chair all to myself and a fully hot cup of coffee that I get to drink from start to finish without interruption…I just refuse to wake up at 5am so I don’t get to have too many of those versions of a peaceful moment right now. I’m curious, what words do you think parenting has also redefined for you…?
