Where to Start
My name is Callum and I'm a Nurse/Paramedic of 10 years. For years I've been building up my trove of ideas in my head and I've finally starting piecing together to abilities and capacity to start moving them forward. I'm based in VIctoria, Australia but the US will likely play a large part of my commercialization strategy. The biggest question I constantly have is... where do I start? I'd love to hear (well... read...) about your thoughts on where to start? What would you have done differently if you were to start over again?

Best place to start is knowing what product code the device falls under. That will give you the FDA requirements for that product.

@Callum Baker thats so awesome! I’m so happy for you. Kids are the best. Is this your first? I’ll see what I can dig up on FDA requirements for a syringe driver product. Let me know what next week looks like for availability and email. I will send over a calendar invite. I can’t promise I’ll be awake in the middle of my night. But I’ve been staying up lately working on some projects.
Introduction
My name is Anthony Esplin. I have been doing my own medical device company for over 5 years now. I have supported a number of clinicians on bringing their products to market. I have a degree in Biomedical engineering. Originally from Idaho. I feel like sometimes its hard to know where to start when bring a new product to market. So I started this community to speed up your learnings from all of the mistakes and things I wish I knew starting out. I have wore many hats to build the product, get studies through IRBs, bring my first $1M into the company, and getting to our first $500K in sales. If you have a medical device idea that you want to bring to market and need some additional support, Let me know!

Why this group
Hi everyone 👋 A few years back I had what I thought was a great medical device idea. I noticed that all of these companies were raising so much money. There were startups that were paying through the nose for services that could be done for alot less money. Mind you that on average medical device companies raise over $31M and take 7 years to get a product to market. This group is all about setting you up for success. In the course we have: FDA basics, validating the patient problem, competitive research, collecting data, and figuring out manufacturing. I put all of that into a step-by-step course so other clinicians and founders can know what they need to know before bringing in the expert to dot your "i"s and cross those "t"s. I also run a weekly meetup where we connect live, talk through challenges, and I give individual help. 👉 If you’re working on an idea (or thinking about one) and need some guidance, drop a comment or DM me and I’ll share details.
