Hello sound folks! My name is Anna (they/she), I am a sound tech, engineer and designer currently based in Toronto. I grew up playing piano and since then have developed a passion and love for a variety of instruments, music has always been a key part of my life! I have been immersed in the field of A/V since I was 13 volunteering to run the 4 channel mixer for assemblies in school. When I realized it could be a job my life was changed! From there I went to university for theatrical design and production specializing in audio and performance technologies, during that time I made so many amazing connections and had some amazing mentors that truly helped me maximize my curiosity in the field. Since graduating I have been working at a variety of venues across Toronto including the opportunity to work mentoring students in educational settings. I mainly work in theatre as an A1 and designer but also pick up the odd corporate gig (to pay the bills lol), concerts, dance, workshops and residencies. It's been a few years since I have done any studio work but I do also sometimes work in podcasting and create my own music as a hobby on the side. I am currently awaiting results on my Masters applications for Sound Design, as I hope to further my education to pursue work as a professor sharing my love of sound with students in the future! I'm deeply passionate about empowering people (especially women) to pursue the field as it can feel quite hostile and unwelcoming for us more feminine presenting folks at times, my rage at the rampant misogyny sometimes present in this industry fuels my passion to make an impact in it even further. So excited to be a part of a community full of folks who love sound as much as I do!!!
