Hi everyone, I’m here at Empath Academy because boundaries have become one of the most important (and challenging) parts of my growth as an empath. I’ve always been highly empathic, and I relate strongly to being a Heyoka empath (as well as recognising dark empath traits in myself). As a Heyoka, I naturally mirror the people around me. I pick up what they’re carrying, reflect it back, and for a long time I believed that was my role — to let people offload, to hold the energy, and to alchemise it. Sometimes that process worked. More often it left me depleted, blurred, and unsure where I ended and everyone else began. The mirroring can be powerful and healing, but it also means people don’t always respond comfortably to what’s being shown. Combined with the darker, more perceptive side of my empathy, it creates a real strain around boundaries. My default has been to open, absorb, and transform — and I’m only now learning that I don’t have to take everything in for the alchemy to happen. So this work on boundaries feels especially important. I’m learning that I can still be a clear mirror without losing myself in the reflection, and that the most useful thing I can offer is a stronger sense of where I begin and end. I’m still very much in process, but I’m grateful to be doing this growth here with others who understand the territory. Looking forward to learning with you all.
