A Quiet Realization Today
I had a moment earlier where I just sat still and let myself notice how different I feel these days. Not because of anything dramatic that happened, but because of the quiet ways this life keeps reshaping me. Living out of Mani, moving through unfamiliar places, trusting my own timing (it asks you to meet yourself honestly), without distractions. Today I realized how long it’s been since I’ve given myself the space to actually hear my own thoughts rather than rush past them. There’s a kind of clarity that only shows up when you slow down long enough to recognize what’s been waiting for you. It made me wonder how many of us are carrying things that don’t belong to us anymore, expectations, old identities, roles we've outgrown but keep wearing because they feel familiar. What’s something you’ve recently realized about yourself now that you’re in a different season of life? No pressure, even a single sentence is enough.💙

Great question Patty: I’ve realized how much of my life was spent projecting a polished version of success and stability—part truth, part armor. It kept me respected, safe, and taken seriously, but over time it became a burden I didn’t notice myself carrying. As I prepare for Mérida, I feel something loosening. I’m not chasing an image anymore. I’m choosing a life that’s rich on my own terms—spiritually, financially, and energetically. Maybe that’s why the idea of a simple casita feels so right. It doesn’t match the persona I spent decades curating, but it aligns with the person I’ve actually become. I’m grateful for my life, my work, and the people who’ve supported me. But I’m also honest enough to say: the performance exhausted me. This new season is the first time I’ve let myself step out from behind a version of me that no longer serves my spirit. At 63, I finally feel free enough to live without the armor.

Let’s Break the Ice a Bit
We’ve got a mix of women in here — some already abroad, some planning, some still figuring out what freedom could look like. Since we’re all moving through similar seasons of life, it helps to know who’s walking this path with us. If you’re comfortable, share any (or all) of these: 1. Where you’re currently based 2. Where you’d love your next soft landing to be 3. One thing you hope to get out of this community Nothing polished required. Just whatever feels true today.

I’m currently based in North Carolina, and my next soft landing will be Mérida, Mexico. I’m in the middle of planning a move that feels exciting and daunting at the same time. At 63, choosing a new country, a new language, and a new way of living is a serious leap. I’m also in the process of letting go of the possessions I’ve collected over forty years. Those items marked different chapters of my life, so releasing them is emotional even though the move feels right. What I hope to get from this community is collegiality with women who are wired like I am. On the outside I often look bold and fearless, but on the inside I’m working through the same questions and nerves that come with reinvention. Seeing other women take the bull by the horns and build the life they want is powerful. Learning from your journeys and sharing mine is exactly the kind of support I need right now.

Step 1. Introduce Yourself Hi everyone, I’m Angela, currently based in North Carolina and preparing for a long-term move to Mérida, Mexico. I’m in a season of reshaping my life with purpose. I’ve poured years into my career and into supporting others, and now I’m building a life that centers joy, mobility, comfort, and personal freedom. I’m focused on creating a retirement that feels grounded, beautiful, and fully my own. Step 2. Share Your Spark I joined Blue Skyy Wanderers because I want a community of women who understand what it means to make bold changes later in life, not because we are running from anything but because we are choosing what feels right. I travel with intention and want to connect with others who are designing a life that is both free and sustainable. Step 3. What I Need Most Right Now I’m looking for clarity and accountability. I’m mapping out the logistics, housing, mobility considerations, and overall vision for my move. The practical steps matter to me, but so does staying connected to the emotional side of this transition. Support from women on a similar path helps both. Step 4. Find Your Travel Twin or Life-Path Pal I’m headed to Mérida next and exploring neighborhoods that balance authenticity, accessibility, and comfort. I’m interested in language learning, cooking classes, live music, and building a life that supports my mobility needs. If anyone is also preparing for Mexico, designing a thoughtful retirement, or simply wants to share this phase of reinvention, I’d love to connect. I’m open to chatting here inside Skool or off-platform. Looking forward to meeting you all.
