Hey everyone!For May’s Character Drawing Studio Monthly Drawing Challenge, we’re diving into the world of MERMAIDS in honor of the annual art challenge known as “MerMay!” Your challenge is to create your own original mermaid character design.This can be: - Heroic - Funny - Cute - Creepy - Elegant - Pirate-inspired - Deep sea monster inspired - Cartoony or realistic - Think about:✨ Shape Language✨ Silhouette✨ Personality✨ Costume & Accessories✨ Sea Creature Inspiration✨ Pose & Expression You can push the design as far as you want: - A royal ocean queen - A goofy reef explorer - A glowing deep sea mermaid - A warrior mermaid riding a sea creature - A tiny whimsical mermaid living in a teacup shell - Anything your imagination comes up with! - 📅 Challenge Goal:Try to complete at least ONE finished mermaid design during the month of May and share it with the group! Remember:This challenge is not about perfection. It’s about practicing creativity, storytelling, and having fun drawing characters together. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates this month! 🌊✨

First, I want to thank everyone who joined and supported this community during the first month. Your support honestly means a lot and helped me realize there’s real excitement around building a creative space for artists who love character drawing and storytelling. After thinking carefully about the long-term vision for this community, I’ve decided to shift Character Drawing Studio into a FREE community for now while I focus on growing the audience through YouTube Live classes and free content. My goal is to make this a fun, active, encouraging place where artists can :• Share their drawings • Participate in drawing challenges • Draw along during live streams • Learn character design fundamentals • Encourage one another creatively Going forward, I’ll be doing live classes publicly on YouTube so more people can discover the community and join in. The Skool classroom will continue as the community hub where members can:• Post artwork• Access announcements and prompts• Stay connected between streams• Participate in future events and challenges. This week will also be the final week of private live classes for the members who already paid for their membership month so everyone can complete the time they signed up for. After that, no further membership billing will take place as the community transitions to free access. This change gives us the best chance to grow something fun and inspiring together over time. Thank you again to everyone who supported the launch early on. You helped me take the first step toward building this community. More drawing sessions and fun content coming soon!
