Thankyou Tony. 谢谢您哪! Very glad to have found your methods and community. So, to start, of all the courses you offer, which one is the best starting point (for whichever language)?

@Tony Marsh thanks. I was actually thinking in the context of Spanish. My son started on Spanish with Duolingo, as he had a friend from Chile at the time. He has now stopped completely. Thinking about how to get him back into it. Also, my Spanish neighbour who said she has no one locally who speaks Spanish. Which of your Spanish courses is the best to start with?
A Radical Language Learning Suggestion
- Learn to say the thing you just said. - Grammar is circular, not linear. - "Slow Bach is still Bach." - "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." - Don't memorize words. Play the language by pushing the buttons. - Develope your Routine - Only learn true things. - Phase 1: Notebook - Phase 2: OPI - Phase 3: Real Life - Reflex, not Recall.

Thankyou Tony. That was a very helpful session and made me realise where I really need to focus. The Question / Answer approach is very effective !
Verb Map - The Key to Verbs
One of the main tools we use in the Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic video courses is the Verb Map. If you're new the concept -- or would like a refresher -- this video demonstrates how all verb tenses (and aspects) fit on a single map. The complete English-Spanish Verb Map and the template I used to create this video are downloadable in this post.

Thanks @Tony Marsh for sharing these wonderful ideas for learning a language through conversations. I would normally use my notebook and write it out by hand, but just to see what would happen (Future Simple ?) I tried generating a Verb Map for Mandarin with DeepSeek. I'm looking forward to practicing with this, and I might even write it out - as writing the characters helps me to memorise. This is what it produced :I

In fact, the more of a beginner you feel you are, the more welcome you are! Note that the session will be recorded and published in the group. Find the link in the Calendar section of the group. If you plan to attend, a quick RSVP in the comments of this post is appreciated, but not required.
