Dual Citizenship: Smart or Overkill?
There’s a lot of buzz about “global citizenship.” Helpful for some… or a bit extreme? Curious where you stand. Quick check-in: ✅ I have a second citizenship/passport 🔍 I’ve researched it / considering it ✋ Not for me (at least for now)

All on plastic
I showed up in Spain with $4 EUR coins - left over from last year, and as I’m about to close out this season, I managed to do all 3 months without a trip to the ATM. The smallest amount I spent was in Lead for my pencil for a $1.15. The lady did cringe when I said « Tarjeta » but still indulged me :) It’s interesting in that while in Spain, it’s all plastic, when in Mexico it’s all cash 💰. You cash or card?

I wish I was all cash… but I’m card 😂

@Lary Neron yeah getting cash is a pain there. I always went to the bank on the Main Street under the gym next to the pharmacy.
Lost wallet
Some things are not ideal, like “misplacing” your wallet when you are abroad. How do you manage your cash, cards, backup cards when on the move? Does your bank ship new cards worldwide wide?

Someone stole my CC details when I was traveling this summer. I use Chase CC’s and they overnighted me new cards to a location in the country I was in. Magic Service.

@Lary Neron wonderful 😂 my AMEX hasn’t been stolen yet but I assume it would be similar 😂
What TOOLS already make your life easier and more independent?
A portable life is about reducing dependence on things you cannot control. Power is one factor, but so are platforms that change rules, systems that lock you in, and geography that limits options. The Resource Classroom exists to pool tools that increase sovereignty and reduce friction. Only the real tools you already use and trust. What is one tool, app, or setup that makes your life simpler or more independent? ✍️List it below, please.

@Lary Neron - I thought on this a little more… AppFolio and clear SOPs — This combo lets our real estate world keep moving without me needing to physically be there. Everything lives in one place, and the team always knows what “good” looks like. Loom — I can teach, delegate, and create clarity without meetings. Huge trust builder for the team and massive time saver. Discord / VOIP setup — Keeps communication flowing, centralizes conversations, and lets me stay plugged in without being chained to a desk. Cloud-based everything — Docs, finances, communication … if it’s not accessible from anywhere, it doesn’t belong in my life anymore. All of these reduce dependence on geography, gatekeepers, and “old school” systems — and they give me the freedom to run businesses, help people, and still live a real life with my family.

@Lary Neron I like Discord because we can setup automations and it allows us to setup as many channels as needed. We can use permissions and have VA’s only see certain things. It had a ton of features that Slack had for free before Whatapp had similar. We can also upload all kinds of documents and it’s a way to just have one app for all business communications. I’m going on that fucking cruise 😂
Do big changes really require big leaps?
Most advice about change assumes it has to be dramatic!!!! You either go all in or you do nothing. That framing makes many reasonable desires feel unreachable. I often feel I'm alone, living in the middle, not trying to jerk my life around. Anyone else in the middle? The gap between where you are and where you want to be often feels large because it is imagined as one move. When that gap is broken into smaller steps, the nervous system responds differently. The decision becomes easier to make and easier to take the first step. Moving to a new place does not have to begin with selling EVERYTHING. It can begin with spending a weekend there and renting a place for a weekend/week. That experience provides information without forcing commitment. Wanting a more portable work life does not require QUITTING a job. It can start by asking/making one day a week remote. That small shift tests what is possible with very little risk. Small, reversible steps build trust in yourself. When trust increases, action becomes more natural, and momentum follows without feeling forced. In what area of your life could you experiment with ONE small step that would move you closer to the Portable Life you want?

We talk a lot about “big wins,” but most of the real growth I’ve experienced has come from the tiny, almost boring changes, the 1% better decisions stacked over time. One clearer process. One tough conversation you finally have. One customer email answered faster. One system improved. None of these feel life-changing in the moment… but they compound in a massive way. I’ve come to value consistency far more than intensity. I’ll take consistently average progress all day long over one heroic burst of effort once a year. The businesses (and people) who win aren’t the ones making dramatic leaps, they’re the ones showing up, doing the small things, again and again, even when nobody’s watching and it doesn’t feel exciting. Those steady, repeatable improvements build trust, momentum, and confidence. One small step. Repeated often. That’s what actually changes everything.
