The (PT) Phyre Thong Workshop Video
Finally, the (PT) Phyre Thong Workshop video. https://youtu.be/n9YmJTHech4
@Joe Lau most definitely
Sensei, if possible please could you send an up-close photo of the knot at your toggle, and an up-close photo of the toggle connection to the blade?
Reverse bamboo fire saw!
The hole notch worked better this way. I felt like I could apply more pressure. Same piece of bamboo! https://youtube.com/shorts/QEGgk1PjyfM?si=YekTUBRzbI3HC6Hp

My first fire saw success
Bamboo on bamboo. I carved a simple V notch at the end of the fire board. I tried the hole notch in the middle but couldn’t quite ignite it. I think the bamboo is a little too hard. https://youtu.be/IAiBY8RCTsM?si=gq1b-zje8JQc3tUf

HARVEST MAMMOTH SUNFLOWERS
So, last month we went over the (PS) Phyre Saw. I don't know about you, but as I drive around, there are a lot of giant Sunflowers! If you happen to pass by one of those local farmer markets that happen to be growing those Mammoth Sunflowers, you might want to stop in and talk to them about your interest in the stalks only (not the seedheads.) The stalks, to the farmers are mostly garbage and waste. To us, they are PRECIOUS (PS) Phyre Saw bases and HearthBoards!!! Ask when they're planning to cut them down and if they don't give them to you for free, offer to give them a down payment that you negotiate that's fair, get a receipt and their contact info (in case they forget and cut them down and get rid of them and don't contact you - get your $ back). The very bottom of the stalks up to about 6 feet up is what you're looking for. Good Luck!
HARVEST MAMMOTH SUNFLOWERS
This is a great reminder. Relevant in my area! So if the sunflower is the base, what do I use for blade? Sunflower too? Is this only for the reverse Phyre Saw technique or also for the regular technique? Thank you!
My stroke length was 4 inches (lolololol)…. Is that pretty standard? Or, in all seriousness, should I be aiming for a longer stroke than that?
@Joe Lau cool! That answer works for me! 🙏🏽
