Pre-Season Decisions
Before we drop the whole 1hr interview here, I want to share a tiny piece of what world class choreographer John Knowles had to say when he was answering my question to him about what coaches should be doing right now to ensure the highest opportunity for success later in the season. He shares SO much in the interview, so this is only a tiny piece... but think about his answer from the coach perspective he was talking about here AS WELL AS our parent perspective. He's talking about decisions... leave your thoughts in the comments about how your coaches might be doing this, or how you might be doing this as a cheer parent.

This for me is an example that helps us understand how coach decisions don’t always “make sense” from the parent perspective. A coach is making scoresheet decisions that are highly detailed, and they have to weigh things in their choices that aren’t always super obvious to a parent. And honestly, I love the open conversation that will happen in this community because we can help bridge that gap for parents to know how to get context when they need it or don’t understand why coaches do things that they do. Y’all feel free to ask if you have things you don’t quite understand about coach choices.
A Coach Interview
Hey y'all! We did an interview with our friend, John Knowles the other day and want to know if this type of conversation matters to you or not. He is the former Allstar Director at Cheer Athletics and is a world renowned choreographer now with many World Champion teams, Summit, NCA, Majors, etc. He teaches coaches how to study the scoresheets and how to be better coaches. Is that interesting to y'all so you have a better understanding of what your coaches should be paying attention to, or is it too far outside the parent lane? Say yes if you want it or no if you don't... remember this is YOUR community to build, shape, and ask. Also, if you want anything specific, ask for that here too :)
