Why local janitorial firms are missing out on the 22M FAA small business set asides
I’ve been spending some time looking into federal procurement gaps for the Southeast region lately and I noticed something interesting about how the FAA is currently sourcing janitorial contracts in Alabama and Mississippi. Most local firms I talk to assume they cannot compete with the national giants but there is a current solicitation for the Air Traffic Control Towers in Mobile and Gulfport (Ref: 697DCK 26 R 00056) that is a Total Small Business Set Aside. This means the government is legally barred from giving it to a massive corporation because they have to hire a small business. The contract is a 5 year play (Base plus 4 options) which is the kind of stability that actually lets a small team scale up. I’ve already pulled the Statement of Work and the Wage Determinations for this specific site. If anyone here is operating in the Gulf Coast area and wants to see the frequency charts or the site specs to see if it fits your current capacity just drop a comment below and I will send over what I’ve gathered. No strings attached because I just want to see more local owners taking these spots instead of the big national chains.
