Why It's So Much Easier To Be Afraid Than Excited
Research has shown that anything negative hits us at least 7x harder than anything positive. Whatever your brain focuses on is what you'll think about and how you experience the world. Here are 3 ways to counter that / turn it around: - Become very conscious of what you consume and when. Starting early in the day by consuming the news may not be the best premise to feel better. - Donโ€™t just think positive words, visualize positive experiences to prime your brain. - Negative news travels much faster than positive news - simply because of how vigilant our brain is. Next time you hear or read something negative, try to come up with at least 7 positive news.

@Marina Grusevaja I am SO there with you! I have a folder of this stuff - its 1/3 Uplifting Quotes (Brene Brown style), 1/3 Dark Humour Memes and 1/3 Animals Ruling the World... like the pupper that carried the garden sprinkler inside through his doggy door.

Marina, me too! Burnout forced this issue for me but I'm still figuring out what 'fair & reasonable' looks like for situation specific boundaries. I find it hard to assess familiar situations using new, fresh thinking. ... if other people could just swim in their lane and leave my boundaries in peace that would be a much easier solution to maintain ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘ฎ
Can't Sleep Through The Night?
This is for those who wake up in the middle of the night, suffer from insomnia, or simply can't sleep through the night for an extended time: - Turn your phone off latest 1h before going to bed - Read a book (best natural sleeping pill!) - Meditate - Listen to calming music or binaural beats that are focused on calming the mind. A simple search on YouTube for 'binaural beats sleep' brings quite some good results. - Write down your thoughts about the day What else has worked for you - if you're among those who usually have good sleep?

@Pamela Wagner @Yolande Grill - I SO hope some of these are able to help a fellow restless sleeper! Insomnia might be the MOST BORING disorder available. There is absolutely nothing to do at 3am (resisting online shopping and home decorating is a good start though, haha). Adding in a couple I forgot: - Sleep Stories: I have chatty brain monkeys (ADHD) so find my mind wanders or writes To Do lists with sleep music or binaural beats. I stumbled across Sleep Stories though and I adore theses. I didn't realise how much background light there was, and how much it niggles with my sleep patterns. If 10 minutes is a challenge, do 5min. Find somewhere quiet, set your alarm, and close your eyes. Just observe what's coming up. How is your body feeling? Is your mind racing? Are you starting to feel tired? Whatever it is, just be there for yourself for that short amount of time. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ There are thousands of studies on this topic, so here's one: ๐Ÿ‘‰ Research from 2016, published in Nurse Education Today, showed that mindfulness-based stress reduction significantly decreased depression, anxiety, and stress while increasing mindfulness.
