Even as a trainer myself, I sometimes forget to push my limits. My coach reminded me today to go heavier, and I did it felt amazing. Note to self: If you’re hitting a plateau, investing in a trainer is KEY. They take the stress off creating your own programs and offer that accountability and support we all need.

As I mentioned before, I’m currently following another trainer’s program. I specifically asked for more of an athletic training style, so lately I’ve been focusing on power, strength, stability, and explosive movements. One thing I’ve learned is that my balance is AWFUL. 😂 I always knew it wasn’t great, but I never really did much about it. For years, I focused on pushing heavy weight on compound lifts and thought that was the only way to grow. What I’ve realized is that incorporating unilateral (single-leg/single-arm) movements, stability work, and speed-focused training has actually made me stronger overall and improved my compound lifts. So please don’t shy away from including unilateral and stability movements in my programming. I’ve found they’ve been a huge weakness of mine and something that’s really helped me grow.

Workout With Me 🏋️‍♀️
Hi girls 🤍 Wanted to show you the real behind the scenes of me struggling, learning, and continuing to grow through training. Lately I’ve been working with a trainer who has me training more athletically focusing on explosive movements, stability, strength, and power. It’s definitely out of my norm since I’ve spent so long training in a hypertrophy style with 10–12 reps, and now I’m mainly doing 8 reps with more intentional movements. I’ve been with him for a little over a month now and I can already tell my power and single-leg strength/stability has improved so much. Growth isn’t always pretty, but challenging yourself is where the change happens.
