Welcome Kristi and Janell!
Hi everyone! Help me welcome @Kristi Ta and @Janell Magdaleno! @Kristi Ta practices medicine and is a super talented artist and entrepreneur. I count on her to cut straight to the point and ask honest questions-- always sparks a good discussion. @Janell Magdaleno is an investor and manages her own rental properties. Looking forward to hearing more about your mom-preneur journey! Major respect to you for being a handyman, contractor, plumber, "manager of personalities" plus more, all wrapped up in one.💪

START HERE: Food tracking challenge! We start on Monday August 3!
Step 1: Intro yourself below. Say where you're from and your favorite hobby. Step 2: Your pre-work homework is to start taking photos of your food. Step 3: BONUS: load the food photo into AI like Gemini, ChatGpT, Claude, Perplexity. Give the AI some context: - Use the microphone to describe what you're uploading in a few words and portion size - Ask the AI to question you for accuracy - Then ask the AI to estimate calories and macros - Post a screen shot with your AI output anywhere in the thread!

@Kristi Ta Curious about your thoughts on these 2 varying outputs? Here’s mine: awareness of the differences is key. Then what do you do with the awareness? Maybe decide to use the same AI? Or, understand that moving forward, all these tracking and logging apps might be up to several hundred calories off- does that feel stressful … perhaps but know that this challenge is to get to know your own patterns with food choices and portions. When that’s clear, you know how to be more precise and make choices for your personal goals.

@Kristi Ta yes, one hundred percent agree to “ballpark” estimates and conserving your bandwidth. You’ll start to see patterns and will become better at estimating by yourself without the AI. You can use the same chat thread when you log on different days and ask it to pool and summarize data for you. I would start with calories and protein. Just that. No changes just yet.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱™ 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸.
𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲? You decide you're finally going to track your food. Day 1 Motivation is high. Logging feels easy. You even decided to change up the meals and eat healthy! Day 2 You start self negotiating. "Do I really want to log that glass of wine?" "Maybe I'll skip the chips..." You still crave them all... But you don't want to see them on your log. Day 3 Life gets busy. You miss logging a meal. Then another. A few days later... You stop. Back to cutting carbs, lots of salads, more cardio. Back to thinking this time will be different than the last. You've just overloaded your cognitive bandwidth. How do I know? I've been there around 10 times. 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗔+ 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆. Because every meal felt like a test. Every missed log felt like minus points... and another dose of disappointment. No wonder tracking became exhausting. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝟭𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. We're replacing perfection with practice. We're replacing judgment with curiosity. We're replacing guilt with data. 𝗕𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟭, 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹: ✅ Track without guilt. ✅ Look at a plate and estimate with confidence. ✅ Stop guessing. ✅ Make confident food decisions at restaurants, on vacation, during the holidays... anywhere. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿. Which of these resonates with you based on experience? If none, then drop it below too!

What you can expect to gain by the end of this challenge
By Day 11, you'll be able to... 1. See tracking differently. Stop seeing it as guilt... restriction ... or another run of the mill diet ... & start using it as INFORMATION. 2. Stay consistent without falling into the all too common "perfection" trap. Log CONSISTENTLY for a short, defined period so you gather enough information to actually learn patterns + a skill for your eating choices + patterns. 3. Trust + cultivate your "inner knowing" ...instead of guessing. Build confidence estimating energy intakes that match your goals (and eventually macros) for everyday meals, restaurants, vacations, treats, and alcohol, so you're no longer relying on hope or starting over every Monday.
