The Fascinator
Do you own a fascinator... and where would you actually wear yours?👒 The fascinator as we know it today came later, but its vintage cousins were everywhere in the 1940s and 50s. Women wore tiny doll hats, cocktail hats, half hats and little decorative headpieces perched at an angle instead of covering the entire head. And they could get FUN. Think little veils over the eyes, feathers, velvet bows, flowers, pearls and netting. They were basically jewelry for your hair... and the perfect finishing touch when a dress needed a little something extra. By the 1950s, tiny cocktail hats could be incredibly glamorous and were designed to work WITH those beautifully styled curls and updos instead of hiding them. Today we call many of these little statement headpieces fascinators, and honestly... they're one of the easiest vintage accessories to bring into a modern wardrobe. Wear one to a wedding, tea, church, the races or anytime you feel like being just a little extra. 😂 🛍️ WHAT TO SHOP: Try a little veiled fascinator with your next vintage look. They're especially cute with a 1940s or 1950s hairstyle. Do you own a fascinator... and where would you actually wear yours?

Social Saturday | 1950s Diners
Do you have an old fashioned diner near you? Drop the NAME and CITY below so the rest of us can add it to our list. 🍒 Your mission this weekend... find the most wonderfully retro diner within driving distance and GO. 😂 You know the kind. Chrome everywhere, red vinyl booths, checkerboard floors, neon signs, jukeboxes and milkshakes served in those tall old fashioned glasses. Bonus points if there’s a classic car sitting outside. And don’t just go for lunch... make an afternoon out of it. Put on your pedal pushers or favorite 50s dress, curl your hair, order a burger and fries and absolutely get the milkshake. 🍨 The fun part is that little old school diners are still hiding ALL over the country. Some are genuine diners that have been serving people for decades, while others were built later specifically to recreate that fabulous 1950s atmosphere. And if you're ever in the Pigeon Forge Tennessee area - then MAKE SURE to go to Sunliner Diner - its the best one in the world 🙌 📍 WHERE TO GO: Search Google Maps for “1950s diner near me,” “retro diner” or “historic diner.” You might be surprised what’s sitting an hour away that you’ve never heard of. Hi I’m Ally. I think the 50’s is probably my favorite era to dress from as I am a rockabilly at heart ;however, I have pieces from the 30-70’s. I’m excited to learn more about make up and hairstyles to incorporate vintage fashion into my day to day.

For Trend Tuesday - I’m choosing Jean Harlow’s 1930s bias-cut evening gown, paired with a marabou feather wrap/stole. 😍 She was the ultimate fashion icon of the 1930s. ✨ Show off your favorite vintage outfit below in comments! ⬇️ Trend Tuesday: Vintage fashion, trends, iconic styles, and timeless looks from decades past!
