What having dyslexia taught me about coaching
Let me tell you what REALLY changed my life with dyslexia... And why it matters for you as a coach. See, years ago I got this letter. It was my official diagnosis… A detailed breakdown of everything I supposedly "couldn't" do. Can't handle stress. Can't read well. Can't process information normally. lol. Basically a long list of limitations that were meant to define my life. But here's what I discovered around age 18-19... These weren't actually limitations at all. They were just different ways my brain processed information. For example... I wasn't great at reading. But I was brilliant at listening and taking action. I scored incredibly high on auditory and kinaesthetic learning. So instead of fighting against my "limitations"... I simply changed HOW I consumed information. And suddenly... Everything became easier. I started absorbing knowledge faster than most people. Not because I "overcame" dyslexia... But because I stopped trying to force myself into someone else's process. Here's why this matters for you as a coach: Your clients come to you with their own "labels" and "limitations." "I can't do X because of my anxiety..." "I can't achieve Y because of my ADHD..." "I can't succeed because of [insert limitation]..." But these aren't actually limitations. They're just processes they're refusing to change. Your job isn't to help them "overcome" these things... It's to help them find their own unique way of achieving their goals. To show them a different perspective. To help them question: "How do you know that's true?" Because the moment someone uses their "label" as a reason they can't do something... That's the real limitation. Not the condition itself.

I would like a coach to help me find ways around my limitations. =/ I'm glad to hear that you found ways and I hope to find mine too.
Weird way coaches can get good at sales
Had an interesting coaching call yesterday... One of my clients was struggling with sales. But here's the weird part... We ended up talking about relationships instead. Why? Because sales are EXACTLY like relationships. Here's what I mean... Imagine walking up to someone on a first date and asking: “So...are we gonna get married or what?” You’d run a mile Yet that's what most coaches do on sales calls. They show up basically saying: “It's 2 grand. If you're wasting my time, tell me now…” And then wonder why prospects run for the hills. Truth is... Whether it's love or business... The moment you start obsessing over the "outcome"... Is the moment you kill your chances of getting it. Instead, focus entirely on: * Making sure you're connected * Being truthful * Allowing vulnerability * Actually enjoying the process That's what sets up your best chances. Think about your best relationships... They didn't start with someone PUSHING for commitment. They started with intrigue… connection… and trust. Same goes for sales. Remember this: The sale, like love, happens in the space between two people connecting authentically. Everything else is just desperation in disguise.

This is one of the BEST things I have ever heard about sales. I have always resisted and hated it and I refuse to even talk about it with most people so I have been closed to learning about it but THIS IDEA struck a nerve and really opened up my mind to it. Thank you!

Looking for reactions to my HVG: The Top 3 Reasons You Fight With Your Addicted Partner

@Albert Martinez True. I kept changing the population I was working with. When I first started I was going to do a depression program, then a few different ones. That is only the title for me to differentiate which HVG I was working on. Sorry for the confusion. I'm still working on it and thanks for the comments. I have put in way more time than I'm supposed to into this, primarily because I kept changing my focus. Now I'm impatient to just get it done. Any other suggestions would be welcome. I help women who are tired of fighting with their addicted partners to communicate more effectively through Peaceful Relating using my 3 Pillar Process. =)

Program Question
I am an addiction counselor and have done it for 8 years. I have a unique program that I take people through and I really want to share my program with the world!! I also want to teach other addiction counselors what I know.... what I joined this program for was to become a relationship coach though... I remember that Ed said not to do more than one program at a time and I am ok with that... I am starting to wonder which program to start with? I have zero videos for any of the three programs. I have a really good handle on what to share with people with addiction and with other addiction counselors, less so with the relationship coaching. Would it be best to start with what I know the best or with what I want to do the most?

@Alexandra Corless I am an addiction counselor and my clients cannot come with me for my coaching program. I need to start a separate business because I would leave my job when my coaching business is up and going. I hope that makes sense.
