Why Your AI Videos Still Look AI — 7 Things That Make Them Look Cinematic 🎬
You can have access to the best AI tools and still create videos that look AI-generated. The difference usually isn’t the tool. It’s the creative direction behind it. Here are 7 things I focus on when creating cinematic AI content: 1. Stop generating random shots. Before generating anything, know your environment, characters, wardrobe, props and overall visual language. 2. Build reference images first. If your character, product or location needs to appear more than once, establish exactly what it looks like before you start creating scenes. 3. Think in shots — not prompts. Wide shot. Medium shot. Close-up. Insert. Tracking shot. Low angle. Over-the-shoulder. You’re building a sequence, not one giant prompt. 4. Give your world continuity. If the couch is on the left in one shot and suddenly on the right in the next, the illusion breaks. Establish the geography of your environment and keep returning to it. 5. Direct movement intentionally. Don’t just say “make this image move.” Tell AI what the character is doing, what the camera is doing, what the environment is doing and what should stay still. 6. Stop trying to fix everything in generation. Your raw AI clips aren’t the finished product. Editing, pacing, sound design, music, transitions and color are what turn generations into an actual piece of content. 7. Develop taste. This is the biggest one. AI can generate almost anything now. That means the advantage isn’t simply knowing how to generate. It’s knowing what should be generated in the first place. That’s the difference between someone using AI… and someone directing with AI. If you want to learn my complete workflow—from developing the concept and building reference images to prompting, AI video generation, editing and creating the final cinematic piece—I break the entire process down inside my AI Masterclass.

Adding film effects to your prompts
I like adding a little grain film or dust to my prompt to make my scenes a bit more realistic
