Tirz ā Reta: Muscle Retention & Recomp Differences in Female Subjects?
Hey everyone ā long-time reader, first-time poster š I wanted to share a bit of my current research protocol and get feedback from those who have experience with both tirzepatide and retatrutide, specifically around muscle retention and body recomposition. Subject background: Female, 35, 5ā1ā, desk job but moderately active (3-4 45ish minute gym sessions a week) Subject previously ran tirzepatide at 5mg/week, resulting in ~25 lb total loss. After hitting a plateau, she discontinued tirz and has been off for 4+ weeks. Primary reason for switching compounds: While fat loss on tirz was excellent, the remaining goal is further fat loss with better muscle retention / recomp, especially given that females tend to preserve lean mass less efficiently than males during weight loss. New protocol: - Retatrutide starting at 1mg/week for 4 weeks - Planned titration to 2mg/week (split dose: Monday / Thursday) - Intention to hold at the lowest effective dose for as long as results are present The choice to switch to reta is based on research showing improved fat oxidation, metabolic rate, and lean mass preservation vs GLP-1/GIP-only compounds. Main question for the group: For those who have researched both tirzepatide and retatrutide, did you notice a meaningful difference in muscle retention, firmness, or overall body recomposition when switching to reta ā especially in female subjects? Iām particularly curious about: ⢠Muscle retention ⢠Strength preservation ⢠Visual ātoningā / recomposition ⢠Differences in early vs later-phase results Would love to hear both data-driven insights and real-world experience. Appreciate everyoneās input!
