Behind the scenes: DryDuck Day 60
Hey everyone! So you've already seen the DryDuck website from the intro video. Wanted to give you a check-in on where things are at now that we're about 60 days in. The website was built using AI on a budget of about $1,500. Since then we've been focused on getting it ranking on Google and building up reviews. Here's where we're at: The site is now showing up near the top of Google search results across a large area around Des Moines. Our main keyword is averaging a rank of about 3.2 across a 46 mile radius. We've got 52 Google reviews so far. And today we had our best day yet with 3 estimate calls booked, all from organic search. No ads. I've attached the heat map below so you can see what this looks like. Basically each number on the map represents where we'd rank if someone searched from that specific spot. Green means we're ranking really well (top positions), and anything that's not green is where we still have room to grow. So the goal over time is to turn the whole map green. The next phase is going to be expanding into nearby cities through blog posts and Google Business Profile activity. I'll keep posting these check-ins as we go. If there's anything specific you want me to break down about the process, let me know!

@Aaron Tonner Good question, I would create service area pages for the major areas within the orange. Although I wouldn't make them all at once, I'd make the pages that are closest to our green spots first and only make the next pages once the ones we were targeting changed to green. Google's not a big fan of tonnes of pages being added at once and because we're using AI its best to do things slowly so we don't get flagged as making AI content.

@Aaron Tonner Happens to the best of us :)
Do you still need a marketing expert to build your website?
Hey everyone, hope you're having an awesome day! So I keep seeing marketing agency owners and professionals online laughing at business owners who are trying to use AI tools to build their own websites, set up their own Google Business Profiles, run their own ads, all that stuff. They keep saying things like "you still need an expert" and "it's not going to work." And honestly... I think they're wrong. Or at least, they will be very soon. Here's why. Right now, with the right structure and the right guidance, a business owner can use tools like Cursor or Claude Code to build out a full website that actually ranks on Google. I'm seeing it happen in real time with the projects I'm working on. The key word there is "with the right structure." You can't just throw a prompt at ChatGPT and expect a perfect website. But if you have a solid framework, like how to do keyword research, how to structure your pages for SEO, how to set up service area pages, then AI can do the heavy lifting 10 to 20 times faster than doing it manually on tools like WordPress and Squarespace. And it's not just websites. Google Business Profiles, Google Ads campaigns, Facebook ads... all of these systems can be built and managed with AI when you have the right process behind them. I think we're a lot closer to business owners not needing expensive agencies than most people realize. What do you think? Do you still need an expert, or is AI closing that gap fast?

Hey team, hope you're doing very well! I want to run a workshop soon and was curious if there were any people here that would like to have a website built from the ground up. I'll go through the full process from design -> hosting -> SEO + any questions you might have along the way over a 90 minute call. Just let me know below if you do and what the website will be for and I'll pick one for the workshop!
