Weekend Check In
Which nervous system loop are you closing over the next 48 hours? If your body has been trapped in a survival response all week, just resting or laying on the couch sometimes isn't enough to make you feel recovered. Your brain needs a signal that the danger is over. So, what is your nervous system game plan for this weekend? Are you going to: Discharge it? (A sweaty workout, a 60-second shake-out (think shaking like a wet dog), or shouting along to music in the car to burn off trapped adrenaline) Ground it? (Heavy yard work, a weighted blanket, or getting your bare feet into the grass to signal physical stability) Shock it? (A freezing cold shower or an ice plunge to force an instant heart-rate reset) Drop your plan below: Discharge, Ground, or Shock? Let’s hold each other accountable to some biological recovery.

I’m going to ground it by going outside with my puppy every time she has to potty…and be barefoot in the grass…and extend her outside time by at least 5 minutes. I would guess she goes out 6-7 times a day.

Thank you!! Thank you for this idea and reminder. We’ve already been out 3 times this morning!
Week 1: What sets Snappy off in .2 seconds
Mine was a kid asking a question I had just answered. The exact same question, thirty seconds later, while I was still standing in the same spot. What's yours?

Merciful fathers…this is one of mine too. I had 105 students in my band class. I knew students asking me to repeat over and over would cause me to lose it, so I put ever mechanism in place that I could think of to prepare for that….and wouldn’t you know it? Kids are human too.
