I need to get a pre amp to go with my Baggs pickip on my violin, that is: not too expensive techno idiot friendly simple to set up and use. Any suggestions?

I'm starting up a violin/vocals and guitar duo, playing jazz/gypsy jazz standards. My guitarist plays with a similar sound and style to Martin Taylor. Can anyone recommend good recordings to listen to with that combination?
