First Paid Project
Hello everyone, just joined the group and I look forward to getting to know you guys. I've been learning n8n for the past month, I believe I have sufficient grasp of the platform now to start taking on projects. Do you guys have any recommendations as to where to start? Upwork excluded.

Hi Jaleel, Great to have you on board! Regarding platforms, here are a few worth checking out, especially as a beginner: - Fiverr (fiverr.com): easy to get started, you create fixed-price "gigs" and clients come to you. Honestly, I haven't heard great things about it (low rates, high competition), but it can work for building initial reviews and a portfolio. - Freelancermap (freelancermap.com): IT-focused, strong in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), no commission fees. Great if you're in Europe. - PeoplePerHour (peopleperhour.com): beginner-friendly, good for smaller projects to build up your profile. - Contra (contra.com): commission-free for freelancers, portfolio-first approach. Nice for getting started without losing a cut of your earnings. - Hubstaff Talent (talent.hubstaff.com): 100% free, no fees at all. Lower volume but zero risk. I actually used Claude to research these and put together a comprehensive list. If you want to dig deeper, check it out here: https://claude.ai/public/artifacts/8ff679b1-cb70-4f5a-a5f0-1aead0e6cd6d But honestly, platforms are just one piece of the puzzle. A couple of things from the top of my head that have worked well: - Join communities (here on Skool, Facebook groups, Reddit, r/n8n, r/automation, etc.) where people discuss their problems. Be helpful, interact genuinely, and establish yourself. When someone asks for help, reply, and when the project is too big for a quick answer, that's your opening. - Look for in-person events related to your area of expertise: trade fairs, local business meetups, tech events. I've had tremendous success with this personally. - Cold-calling: Find businesses that could benefit from automation and call them. This works, but it takes practice and can be a big time investment.
Shoutout to Alexander
Wanted to give a shoutout to @Alexander Cebulla. Closed his first large automation customer (5 figs). Alexander you will not forget that feeling. It will fade a bit when you close more in the future, but you won't forget it. I still remember my first freelance client from 2021, my first enterprise customer, and my first 100k customer. Happy for you. Use the momentum to deliver the highest quality results. Remember it is always easier to keep current clients happy than it is to land more clients.

Hi @Matt Payne , thanks for the shoutout. It means a lot. It's actually one of the clients I mentioned in my "First money from freelancing / personal lessons" post: Client 3, the one who paid me for the MVP. We'd been in negotiations all the way back since December. I was fairly certain the project would come through, but then actually seeing his signature below my offer was something else entirely. You're right, I won't forget that feeling. Great advice on keeping current clients happy. I'm currently building out the detailed roadmap for the project, which will run for roughly 2.5 months (wrapping up around June 1st). Fully focused on delivering the highest quality results. Best, Alex
50k on Upwork
I started Freelancing on the side middle of last year with the push from @Matt Payne This also doesn’t include clients outside of the platform that reach out from the YouTube videos. Tbh I haven’t even used Upwork to its full potential. I’ve been complacent with the full time job and side hustle rev being put into investing.

Hi @Joanna S right now, the calls are open for any topic you would like to discuss. Last call on the 18th, for example, we talked about how to use AI for music generation (have a look at this awesome post by @Liina Suoniemi if this interests you: https://www.skool.com/data-and-ai/off-topic-sunday-and-community-music-ai-project-idea-clearly-worked?p=80e5470b) and the use cases of Claude. Time is 6 pm EST. @Ryan Nolan We also talked about the possibility of recording the calls, but this might put off some members from joining. So I was thinking, what about AI note-taking and/or summaries?
Claude Cowork course out next week
Should be about 5 hours of content. Grinded all day today and will do more tomorrow
