Trying out a new moisturizing routine...
So, I had some luck last year with a shower oil, but there was one significant issue - it had a distinct scent of its own. For working from home days, this wasn't a big deal, and I did like the convenience of applying the oil to my body at the end of my shower, letting it sit for a couple of minutes, and then rinsing off the excess. I noticed little difference in my chest, arms, and elbows between this and applying traditional moisturizer after showering. However, because of the scent of the shower oil, I ended up abandoning it after that first supply ran out and going back to the traditional routine. Of course, this also meant that certain parts of my body were getting as much moisturization as they could, since applying lotion is a more tedious process. A few days ago, though, I started a new moisturizing routine... I ordered some organic, fractionated coconut oil off of Amazon to try out as a shower oil. As it turns out, it seems to work just as well as that 'proprietary' shower oil blend - as a full-body moisturizer. However, people weren't kidding about the fragrance benefits. I've noticed a significant improvement in both longevity and projection over the last few days. I'm still, of course, applying an extra layer of face moisturizer to my face as well as body moisturizer with SPF to my head and neck after I shower, but I no longer have to take 15-20 minutes once a week (being generous with how often I actually did it) to apply body moisturizer to my entire body. Instead, I take an extra ≈3 minutes at the end of my shower to apply the fractionated coconut oil and the end result is both improved moisturization for my whole body plus increased fragrance performance. What about you guys? Do you use fractionated coconut oil as a moisturizer, or elsewhere in your fragrance routine?

@Raymond Reeves See @Antonio Cent's comment below. I decided to try this specifically because of both the recommendations for its benefit when used with fragrance as well as its benefits as a moisturizer. But, yes, basically the main difference is it's cleaner than regular coconut oil.

BTW, I made a run to Sam's Club this weekend and noticed that they still had Layton by Parfums De Marly in stock - and for only $219! I meant to take a picture on my way out of the store and then hop online to see if there were others that were a good deal, but I forgot...

I'm just gonna go ahead and pop this in here as a reminder to check your local discount clubs (Sam's Club, Costco, etc.) for fragrance deals. I just happened to find this one at my local Sam's Club earlier this year - and it's the lowest price I've ever seen on a 125ml bottle of Layton, at $219.98 (45% off MSRP)...
To spray, or not to spray...
Alright gents - saw a video the other day on YouTube from Aromatix where he talked about how many sprays is appropriate for fragrances and then proceeded to break it down by fragrance type, etc. It made me perk my ears a bit because in the video, it was mentioned that he sprays anywhere from 3-16 (yes, 16!!!) sprays depending on the fragrance/season/etc. He also mentioned wearing anything year round just adjusting sprays...which may be another discussion. I've always been more conservative (2-3 chest/neck and one on each arm - MAX)...but I went and put on 7 sprays of the Eros EDT this morning and my wife immediately caught a whiff from 4-5 feet away out the gate...so have I been doing this wrong the whole time???? But for the sake of conversation...how many sprays is appropriate? What's the context? How do you determine spray count?

Some of y'all must have women covering their noses and avoiding you all day long. I once was tempted by the sin of over-spraying, primarily due to my fear of not smelling nice - but that was, apparently, all nose blindness. I figured that if I'm having to bury my nose inside my shirt to smell it, no one else must be smelling it at all. And, unfortunately, I often feel like I can't trust my wife's opinion as she has an extremely sensitive - and picky - nose. More than two sprays of almost any fragrance is too much for her (this is almost certainly affected by the fact that we share a bathroom), but one spray of a fragrance she doesn't care for is too much, in her opinion. 😁 The exception to that rule is Versace Man eau Fraiche - which she loves. I can spray just about as much of that as I want and she doesn't complain... However, as soon as I started over-spraying various fragrances - trying to increase longevity and sillage - I had several female friends who straightened me out. Even hours after application, they would give me a comment along the lines of, "You smell great, but today it's too much."
