What is your Core Desire with Brushes?
Hey friends, in preparation and planning for next year's lessons, I would love to hear what you are wanting to improve with your brush playing. Is it a specific genre/groove? Is it a specific technique? Is it logical choreography to overcome a specific problem. Looking forward to hearing how I can help

This may be a bit out of the box, but I’d be interested in any ideas about how to strike cymbals with brushes. I often come out of a fill striking a cymbal only to have a wimpy response. What part of the brush should I use? What kind of cymbal is best, etc.?

Let's get to know each other! Comment below sharing where you are in the world, a photo of your favourite snare drum, and something you like to do for fun. 😊 I'll go first - I live in Melbourne Australia, my favourite snare is the Gretsch 2mm Copper 14x5 (with Kentville Kangaroo Head) and I love long-distance running šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø

Hi, I'm Alan from South Carolina, USA. I've had several fancy snare drums but as for a favorite, it would have to be my old 1976 Ludwig Acrolite. It consistently sounds better than any snare I've ever tried and it weighs half as much. Even the original stand still works. I wish I had kept the original plastic case and floppy rubber drum pad (that would never stay on).

I began playing drums around 1976. I ended up getting a degree in jazz/commercial music but took a long time off, so I'm just getting back into it.
