Reflections from a Free Book Promotion
Thought I'd share a few reflections from my Free Book Promotion. I signed up for Kindle Select when I published my book last November and did nothing with it until July. 1. I didn't realize how giving my book away for free would benefit me. It seemed like it would just take sales away, but now I understand how it drove traffic which can show Amazon it's a book to show more people. It made it as far as #3 in all it's categories (for free books!) I saw my rankings improve significantly. Also, as it went on I got really excited about people having and reading my book. 2. Even though I gave my book away free it was still one of my biggest months in KDP royalties 3. It was by far the biggest month in people reading my book, with over 6k pages read vs an average of less than 3k. I'm experimenting more now that I see how easy it is. I had intended to raise my ebook price incrementally over the first few months but never did. After the promotion I finally raised it. This quarter I'm going to experiment with running a sale vs free. I wish I had started experimenting with it earlier!

Where and to whom did you make the free offer of your book? What social media apps or platforms? The free offer is a great promo but you still need an audience to offer it to.
Krista - can you recommend...
some reader groups that will offer to read your books and possibly give a review (without violating Amazon rules)? If you use them, how do they work?

How has that worked for you? Have you asked other groups on Skool to be part of a reader's group?
📍Pinterest Challenge Day 2
Welcome to day 2 of the 100 PIN CHALLENGE! 🙌 Now that you have made sure your account was established, updated your profile picture, and optimized your bio. Today we are working on thinking about our board strategy. 🎯The goal is to set up 3-5 board topics based on your book. Then, in the board settings, write up an SEO optimized description and add a cover photo 📸. (see more details) 👉 Once you're done with that, SHARE your PINTEREST PROFILE LINK in the comments so we can follow each other.

@Nick Lewis You did it - goes to the book page. Good pins. But, I don't see any #s used

@Nick Lewis Yes, common practice is to add them to the end of your description in this format: #tarot#tarotbook no spaces, no punctuation.
Wow! Check this out from KDP
I've published a couple coloring books on KDP in the past. But I just got this message from them on my Stained Glass Art book which has been published as a paperback. Is this new? Examples of books not suited to the Kindle format include the following: • Puzzle books • Blank Journals • Pattern books • Coloring books • Facing page translations (left page in one language, right page is same content in another language) As a result, we will not be making the book(s) available for sale on Amazon. Opinions needed - my free book offer
Here is a video and an image slide show for a free ebook I intend to offer on KDP. Does it look good? Is it a good enough hook to get you to go get it? Try scanning the QR code and see if it works for you.

@Julianne Anderson It is an avatar made from my likeness and is pretty close. The voice is amazingly similar.

@David Vic Thanks for the positive comments. I do have a website with many books and info. I have a store on it to sell them - but, same old problem... driving traffic to it . As for the free offers - You have to have your book on KDP Select to do the free offer. With that comes KDP's requirement not to offer the book anyplace else during the 90 day enrollment periods.
