I’ve been trying different ways to make extra money since the late 1980s. Home parties. Network marketing. MLMs. Different companies, different products, different promises. Some of the products were genuinely excellent. Did I make money sometimes? Yes. Did I lose money over the years? Absolutely. But looking back, I think my biggest mistake was this: Every time I found a new opportunity, I treated it like it had to be THE ONE. I’d put all my eggs in that basket and keep pushing, even when it clearly wasn’t the right fit. What I know now is that not every good opportunity is a good opportunity for you. Maybe you hate selling. Maybe you don’t want to be on video. Maybe you want extra income without creating another full-time job. That doesn’t mean you failed. It means you learned something. Try it. Learn it. Give it a fair shot. If it fits, keep going. If it doesn’t, take what you learned and move on. After nearly four decades of trying different ways to make money, I’ve learned I don’t need one perfect side hustle. I’d rather have several skills, several possibilities, and the freedom to choose what actually fits my life. I just wish all these options were available back when I started 😂
