Last Thursday, I lost my little brother John B Smiley. As his big sister, this loss has hit me deeply. We were extremely close, and I had been looking out for him for the last 35 years. I believed in him and the ideas he carried. I was helping him step into entrepreneurship. I even took him to the Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute at ASU so he could get support, refine his ideas, and begin building a business of his own. This past week has been extremely hard for me and my family. I am grieving while also trying to keep building the life, business, and legacy. I believe strongly that - Life is precious. Our ideas matter. And that u can never allow anything to make u quit on your dreams. My mission is to help entrepreneurs create more freedom by using AI and funnels to build and grow their businesses. Right now, that mission means even more to me. Last month, I purchased my ticket to Funnel Hacking Live. Now, we are only one week away from Day 1 in Las Vegas. So, in the middle of grieving my little brother, supporting my family, and handling things I never expected to face, I am also preparing for one of the most impactful business events of the year. I will not pretend this journey is easy. But I am going to keep moving forward—one step, one day, and one decision at a time. Last Thursday, my husband bought me a new BMW. He was so excited and couldn’t wait to tell me. But before he got the chance, I called and asked him to come help me find my little brother. By the time my husband met me at my brothers house, everything quickly changed. We called for a welfare check and tragically found my lil brother. My husband didn’t tell me about the car at that time. So he quietly held the surprise and focused on holding me together. The next day, even with everything our family was facing, we still had to pick up the car. I was grateful, but my heart was too heavy to enjoy it. My new car sat for parked three days. Then I finally decided to drive it. As I sat behind the wheel, I realized something: Grief and gratitude can live in the same heart. I can miss my brother and still appreciate the surprise of a new car my hubby for me. I can grieve what I lost while being thankful for the people and blessings that are still here. And now, in a few days, I will drive my car to Las Vegas for Funnel Hacking Live - The AI Era. But this drive will mean more than attending a marketing event. It will represent my decision to keep moving forward despite the pain. Not because the pain is gone. Not because everything is okay. But because life has reminded me that tomorrow is not promised—and the dreams placed in our hearts cannot wait forever. I am going to FHL to learn, grow, and continue building the mission I believe I was called to fulfill. I will carry my lil brother John B Smiley memory with me. And I will give myself permission to experience grief, gratitude, and purpose—all at the same time.
