Hi Everyone, so excited to be a part of this community. I'm a Video Editor who is skilled in the entire production process, from scripting, filming, editing, sound design, motion design, and visual effects. I have been working professionally for the past 7+ years applying all of the skills mentioned above to various degrees, depending on the job at hand or the requirements of the companies I've worked for. In 2023, I had the amazing opportunity to work remotely for a U.S. based marketing company, focusing on encryption for sensitive medical information. I am now a part-time VFX tutor at a prestigious film school in South Africa and I have been looking to get back into the remote workforce as I truly enjoyed working with international companies and expanding my horizons as a video/film creative. My experience includes TV commercials, Social Media campaigns, Music Videos, Narrative content (short films and documentaries), and explainer videos. I have had troubles landing a role in the remote market for almost a year now. I feel I am not adequate even when deep down I know I am, and that is a terrible position to find yourself in. I am hoping that being a part of this community will help restore my confidence and maybe get clarity on how to break through this invisible barrier. And trust me, I tried everything including optimization for ATS systems, being active on job boards and LinkedIn, and tailoring my resume for each application. I intend on contributing to the community as well, sharing thoughts and resources whenever possible and I look forward to networking with everyone. The clip below is my humble workstation that I built. I'm running an AMD Ryzen 7 9700x CPU, Nvidia 3050 8GB for the GPU, and 32 GB of DDR5. Best, Afrika Vakalisa
