Yesterday I officially divorced Shopify. It was fun while it lasted 🤭 It started with one job: lock down a set of Prompt Generators. I learnt Liquid in a few weeks and cracked something even ChatGPT couldn't. Locked it down so hard that Pixi's Burrow was born out of it. I could have walked away right then. But then I noticed something. My Notion templates were getting recommended by ChatGPT and CoPilot, through Shopify. 🤔 And I was attached to my catalogue showing up on Pinterest. So I went and learnt what actually drives that. AEO, and what feeds it. A couple of months ago I learnt XML to build my own RSS feed. Turns out Pinterest accepts it too. That left one thing Shopify still did for me: storage and image delivery. Cloudinary and Cloudflare sorted that. So with a plan for every single box Shopify ticked, I got to work. Decided on the Tuesday. Pressed cancel on the Friday morning. Will I miss it? Nope, lol. My site is now a full standalone ecommerce app. The only subscriptions tied to it are the domain name and a Claude subscription. Definitely my kind of stack. What powers your website right now? Drop it in the comments, I want to see everyone's stack.
