Today, I am reflecting on a poem I wrote nearly 10 years ago that was outside my comfort zone of expressing deep feelings. Here's a line from it: Burning up with the fire of hate. Unable to tell anyone of my pain. What have you written that felt outside your comfort zone?
That line is powerful you can really feel the emotion behind it. I think writing outside your comfort zone is where the most honest work comes from, even if it feels a bit uncomfortable at first. Have you noticed your writing style changing a lot since then?
@Lg Williams I do write sometimes, mostly thoughts that come to me during quiet moments. One thing I wrote recently was: “Some people carry storms so quietly that the world mistakes them for calm.” I think writing becomes more meaningful when it reflects something real we’ve felt or observed. Your post reminded me of that. Do you usually write just for yourself, or have you shared your work publicly before?
