fertilizer question
There is so much information out there regarding the do's and don'ts of fertilizing. This fertilizer for vegetative growth then this fertilizer for blooming and fruiting...ahhh...what's a girl to do? I know procedures differ depending on if you grow indoors or outdoors, in ground or containers and in soil or hydroponically but does anyone have suggestions or recommendations on what they use and do? Also, if you start feeding your plants one brand of fertilizer, can you switch to another if the nutrient formula is similar, or do you have to continue with the same fertilizer brand? For context, I am growing cucumbers, sweet peppers and cherry tomatoes in buckets with air stones. I'm growing indoors in grow tents with lights and fans. I'm using Masterblend Tomato and Vegetable formula 4-18-38. Should I be using a different formula when the plants start blooming and fruiting? Thanks

This is a Great question! You don't necessarily need to switch formulas when your plants start blooming and fruiting. Masterblend is actually well-suited for the full cycle on tomatoes and peppers. What I do adjust is the EC (electrical conductivity) — bumping it up slightly during heavy fruiting to give the plants a bit more to work with. As for switching brands mid-grow, yes, you can switch as long as the NPK ratios and micronutrient profiles are comparable. Just make sure you flush your system well before transitioning so you're not mixing residual nutrients with the new formula in ways you can't calculate. Consistency is more about maintaining your target nutrient ratios than brand loyalty. One thing worth noting for hydro specifically: Masterblend is a 3-part system (the 4-18-38, calcium nitrate, and Epsom salt), so if you're not already using all three parts together, that could make a bigger difference than any formula switch. The ratios matter a lot in a soilless system where the plants are 100% dependent on what you feed them.
Everything is now perfect 👌
From low Ph to nutrient lockout. From water problems and low humidity. From transpiration issues to now. Its been quite a journey but I have finally got there.
Everything is now perfect 👌

For sure! It's hard for me to shove the family out the door at the same time every week 🫤, but keep an eye out for a notification between 8:30 and 10:30 am Hawaii time.
