Do you use your wrist or elbow when you strum?
When you're strumming, do you find you use more wrist or more elbow? And how are you moving your wrist? Is it up and down or is it a rotation motion? 🤔 That was a little bit of a trick question. The answer is all three 😊 And this video is breaking down exactly how I think about the mechanics of strumming on the right hand. Thanks to @Erik Zambrano for bringing this to mind 🧠😆

Another great explanation Jake... thank you! Yes, this is what I started to notice last night. When I took my wrist rotation to the next level, the strumming just sounded more in harmony. Going to keep practicing HWNN to improve my strumming hand while I work on my C chord for KOHD with my fretting hand.
You can't schedule breakthroughs!!!
What if your breakthrough happens this week? But...you decided not to practice or just pick up your guitar. Breakthroughs happen when you least expect it. AKA… There is no way to schedule them. But… One way to guarantee you never have one. Don't pick up your guitar. Seriously...it never has to be a perfect practice session, but getting the guitar in your hangs is the only way to get better. So, this week I challenge you to pick up your guitar everyday, even if its 2 minutes to noodle. JUST PICK IT UP!!! And breakthrough will come.

Might have had one tonight. I was practicing HWNN and all of a sudden my strumming got better. I'm noticing that there is a ton of wrist rotation when using the side finger pick hold. Seems like the pick angle to achive the "brush stroke" attack on the strings is way over 45 degrees. Consider there is up and down strokes, that a lot of wrist work? Is that normal?
Misinterpreted songs???
What songs do you love that it took you forever to realize the meaning to? Or that other people always misinterpret the meaning to? My favorite examples are "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind. Which is about meth addiction, even though it sounds so happy. An Angel by Sarah McLaughlin. It's another one that people think is sweet and ascribe all sorts of meaning to, but is about heroin overdose.

O Children by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Having first listened to this song from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows it sounded like a song about embarking on a grand adventure since the movie only plays the back half of the song. The narrator/soldier is expressing a deep regret for being a part of all of the suffering and being responsible for leaving such a terrible world behind for later generations. Once I listened to the whole song, the message very much still rings true today.
What generation are you?
Here’s a little game of guess your generation 🙃 Here’s the rules: 1️⃣ Down below post a gif that is exclusive to your generation. 2️⃣ Based on that info we will all try to guess your your generation. This should be a fun one. 😆 I'll go first 👇

When do you finally become a guitarist?
For Erik, the answer was a few weeks ago. He joined Guitar Gym Pro, started practicing and recording, and this week he posted his first full playthrough of Horse With No Name - and crushed it. 💪 He is a guitar player. 🎸 Not a guitar enthusiast. Not someone who is ‘just starting.’ 👉 If you’re ready to feel that same shift, join us in Guitar Gym Pro: https://skool.com/guitargympro

Thank you all for the encouragement. I really does motivate me to keep practicing. In all honesty here is why Jake's lessons stood out. His youtube videos where 3-4 minutes long. It's obvious to me that Jake has worked for years to refine his lessons because he understands a person's time is limited and valuable. He gets to the meat and potatoes of what is going to maximize your potential while only asking for 20 minutes of your time each day. Some lessons aren't even that long so he can deliver the day's lesson even faster. Jake understands that a person's time is not to be wasted and that is money well spent.
