Welcome to First Step Bitcoin | Start Here 🟢
Hello, I’m AP! I created First Step Bitcoin to help one million people, just like you, get started using bitcoin. I’m excited to have you here! This community exists to help everyday people take their first step toward freedom, wealth, and a future powered by long-term thinking and Bitcoin. Here’s what we’re about: - Buying your first Bitcoin or sats (starting with as little as $10) - Starting Hodl520 – buy $500 of Bitcoin, move it to a safe Bitcoin only wallet, and hold it there for 20 years - Setting up your Bitcoin economy wallet to sell and buy with any other Bitcoin user anywhere in the world with near-zero fees - Building long-term wealth through recurring buys and simple systems - Helping each other learn and grow by building wealth, freedom, and control over our future This space is for you if you’re curious, committed to freedom, wanting to build wealth, or ready to share what you’ve learned with others. 👉 Start by completing the short onboarding process Then… 👇 Introduce yourself in the comments! Let us know: • Where you’re from • An interest or hobby you love • Why you joined First Step Bitcoin We’re glad you’re here. Let’s build the future—together!

BREAKING: Largest supply chain hack in history 🚨 Hackers hijacked npm, a tool used by millions of apps and wallets worldwide. They slipped in malicious code that can steal your crypto. ⚠️ Why it matters: • Even hardware wallet users need to double-check every transaction before signing. • If you don’t use a hardware wallet, stop making on-chain transfers for now (per Ledger CTO). ✅ What to do: 1. Pause all transfers unless you’re absolutely sure they’re safe. 2. Always use a hardware wallet and carefully confirm the address. Stay safe and stay skeptical.

How long does it take before I can post questions to the community?
What wallet should you get if you’re new to Bitcoin?
I’d like to make some recommendations on this topic. There’s no one right wallet for everyone. But the best wallets will have a few things in common. Here’s a couple of the most important: 1. Bitcoin-only (simpler, safer) 2. Open source (anyone and everyone can look at the code and make sure it’s safe) What is your favorite Bitcoin-only, open source wallet?

What are treasury companies and what do you think about them?
This is another really good question that was DM’d to me by a member of the community @Brian Smedley First off, a treasury company is a real life company that buys a lot of bitcoin with their cash on hand or through selling stock or taking on debt in order to buy bitcoin A perfect example of this is Michael Saylor’s company, Strategy, previously Microstrategy. Do you have any experience buying a treasury company like Strategy? Or maybe you have avoided buying treasury companies. Please let us know your opinion in the comments I will post mine there later as well This information is very helpful for new bitcoiners, as they are going to hear about treasury companies and wonder if it’s good for them or not. Let us know what you think about them

What platform do you like to buy Bitcoin on?
This question was DM’d to me by @Brian Smedley Good question Brian and one that has more than one good answer which is why I’m creating this post to get feedback from others as well. I’ll put my answer in the comments tonight? This answer may change over time for you and me as well. Platforms and exchanges change and we need to check in once or twice a year to make sure we’re still buying Bitcoin from a place that meets our needs. What platform do you buy Bitcoin on and why?

@AP Wilcox thanks so the company I moved my Roth IRA with only uses Gemini. I’m holding it long-term, but are you saying there may be a problem when I go to get it out like it takes several years?
