Thanks so much, super excited to grow together. 😇
Here comes February bye bye January!
January has been a bit of a roller coaster (I like roller coasters) and this month has not disappointed! Here in Southern Ontario we have had record amounts of snow, record low temperatures and an earthquake! (Plenty of fuel for some cool unit studies) Personally, I had my birthday, had the flu (knocked me down for over a week), grew this Skool and attended our provincial library Conference (librarians are some of my favourite people and Free Books and SWAG!) At the Homeskool Help Desk (online and IRL) we have been working on the classroom, singing the praises of our Homeschool Friendly training for Libraries, supporting Librarians and Homeschoolers. One of my new clients came to me with her challenge, she would rather not homeschool but it seems the only option for their special needs child. So we r getting to work and supporting this family with the resources they need. What has your January roller coaster ride been like and what resources would help you?

Happy belated birthday and congrats on all the wins! 🥳🥳
Who is your homeschool mentor?
We all need support when we begin any journey and usually also along the way. Who are your mentors in this homeschool journey? My mentors have been: 🧑‍🏫 Connie who took a group of preschool parents on and over a few sessions, explained the basics of why we might want to consider homeschooling. 👩‍🏫 Karen who shared curriculum, raised great babysitters (so I knew my kiddos would turn out well) and was a transparent mentor-sharing the good and challenging. She also organized IRL support groups and curriculum Sales-Rock star! 🙋‍♀️ Diane who listened a lot and modeled the busy. Later she came to my rescue when family medical issues threatened to take me out. These are my Rock Stars! Who are yours?!

A gentleman named Jim, I have known him for over 13 years. He has always been there to lend guidance and friendship. Another gentleman named Frederick, “Uncle Fred,” is a veteran, professor, and business owner who has provided professional guidance, but has been more of a personal mentor. And most importantly, my Meme, Jean. She has been a personal and professional (specifically in the ECE industry) mentor. I have known her my whole life, obviously lol, and I couldn’t ask for a better mentor. Her wisdom, her kind heart, her fun infectious personality; all have directly contributed to my growth, development, and success.

@Edna Latone thank you! 🙏😇
Library Programs wish list
If you could wave a magic wand, what would your library offer for programs? Dream Big! Homeschool book Club? Daytime Lego programs? Writing workshops? What would your families imagination create?

I think a section specifically for homeschooling and resources for parents wanting to aid their children with continued learning at home would be really cool; as well as, a program that aids individuals who are looking to, or maybe already do, offer homeschooling/ daycare but aren’t trained professionals… something that could teach them the basics of ECE so they can better provided educational experience to children during their vital early years.
