Simple or Epic?
What seems to be working better for ME is to do larger works which capture more attention. I am a representational painter and I gravitate towards fine art. Since there is a lot of art out there to compete for attention in the Western Art genre, which is now my niche, I find that rather than doing quick paintings, doing more elaborate paintings on the larger scale is getting more attention and selling. And later they can become prints to sell. This is a 72 x 28 inch painting called “Bison Stampede”

Wow...I really like this! On the video I was almost certain that bison blinked. LOL Joking but you did a great job on this piece of art. There is something to be said for larger pieces...for one thing you don't have to sell near as many to make the same amount of money, not even counting the trips to the post office or wherever you may ship plus all the supplies. If I remember right you sell a lot at auction. Do you find that to be a better way to sell or mainly to get your name out there? Of course the auction has to match your genre too but for sure you have people interested in buying art there. Nice job!

@Ed Salazar I thought it was you that did the auction thing in Montana but it has to be another member here then. I found my larger work easier to do than the smaller pieces...it is more time consuming though. Your work is really beautiful. So I guess my vote is for epic and then like you say you can do prints later. Some of the artists I know do huge charcoals and oils...like 7 or 8 feet high and fairly wide also. One of them owns a gallery in Wyoming where he has other artists work also. They all end up selling in Jackson Hole...plenty of money there.
Internet Processing Onsite Locations
Hey y'all! I was wondering if any of you use a mobile hotspot for festivals or outdoor shows? I am thinking of getting one and a prepaid card for just the shows. It seems more times than not I have internet lag issues with my Verizon Android phone, and I always ask others at the locations/shows and we are all in same boat. I really don't want to switch to an Apple phone. I am just looking for any insights if any of you have a recommendation that works best besides the research I have been doing myself with the devices.

I have used several mobile hotspots. Verizon was horrible, AT&T worked in places that Verizon did not but if I did it again I would look at T Mobile or Mint which I think uses T Mobile. Actually I now have Mint Mobile and love it. I am connected everywhere I go so far. Mint is probably cheaper to have another phone and their service does include a hot spot through the phone without paying extra. You might compare the cost of the hot spot itself and then the connection and data of others and the Mint connection which includes the hot spot. With Mint you can select the cheapest plan and just upgrade the data for the month you need it, then back down. You would have to have a phone but it would not have to be an expensive one. I think you can also turn service off and on to save money also. Hope that helps. For sure my choice would not be Verizon. My phone bill is under $30 a month and finally I have service and a hot spot anytime. If you buy a years worth of service it is less expensive...I think $26 or so but they have specials for first time users too.
Another Scammer
I was so excited. Thought I had sold an original but nope, it appears they were scammers. They contacted me through Meta messages. It was Whity Rose and I checked the account which had one picture of a woman and 4 men. Looked to be out of the US with no posts. I did tell them I only shipped in the US. They gave me a Charlotte, NC address which was a real address. They asked about shipping and I said the piece they wanted was on sale and shipping was free in the US. They picked the piece, a bison, that they wanted and it got down to payment. I told them to go to my site where they had been to pick the piece and pay there where there were a number of payment options. I also said if there was any problem on the site to message and I would take care of it. Ghosted! I am pretty sure they were going to try to talk me into some weird payment or shipping thing and I guided them to my payment processor plus told them I only shipped in the US. Bummed...oh well. So be careful if you get a customer with that name.

@Rusty Sherrill I could usually tell they were before but this one seemed more real. LOL That is one reason I even hate to be on Instagram and dislike it even more now that it is part of Facebook and Meta. The whole mess is too confusing and I am an engineer. LOL

@Gaia Orion I usually find it easy to tell but these were a little better than the normal ones. It was easy to tell when we talked a bit, they picked out the art and then when I told them how I took payment they ghosted me. LOL That was a big hint.
How I Sold Almost All my Art in 2 Months - by letting Spirit Guide Me
As artists, we often focus on creativity in our work, but what about in how we run our businesses? While structure and strategy are essential, sometimes stepping outside the box and embracing the creative flow in unexpected ways can lead to incredible results. What I’m about to share may sound unconventional—even surprising to some—but I hope it inspires you to trust your own intuition in both art and business. Since Christmas, my life has taken an unexpected yet beautifully guided turn. I made the decision to leave the east coast island of Newfoundland, my home for 14 years, to move halfway across Canada and support my 92 year-old father after a sudden decline in his health. This transition is one of trust, love, and new beginnings. As part of this shift, I'll be taking a hiatus from my art for a while to help my father declutter and eventually sell his home. Rather than storing or shipping my paintings, I was inspired to launch a ‘Make Me An Offer’ Moving Sale, allowing Spirit to guide the right people to each piece. This was more than a sale; it was an intuitive, heart-led exchange—an opportunity for longtime fans to bring my work into their lives at a price they could afford, while others stepped forward to offer full value in deep support of my transition. A group of local religious sisters even bought three pieces at full price! To make this work, I committed to a full-on 5-week energetic push on my blog / newsletter, social media, with daily posts, videos, and more. It was a lot of work and stretched me in many ways. It caused me to grow, step outside of my comfort zones, and let go of my ego as I trusted the process and the flow of inspiration. The results have been astounding. In just two months, I’ve sold nearly all of my artwork, bringing in more than my net income from last year—and many years past. The decisions on where each painting went weren’t based on the amount of the offer, but on the guidance of my pendulum, making blind selections to ensure each piece landed where it was meant to be. Some of my smallest paintings sold for more than larger ones—each to the right person. The process has been liberating, abundant, and full of love & synchronicities—an affirmation that trusting the flow brings unimaginable blessings.

Hey Y'all! For those that attended yesterday's meeting the Formula with @Maria Brophy I got such positive feedback from all you kind souls to share one of my WINS ♥ I hosted my first art class Sunday, I have had people asking me to do these for some time. I have no formal teaching skills, I have lots of experience with talking to people and putting myself out there, but hosting and teaching was something new. I wrote this down in one of my MIT's to go for it. I had such a successful event I hope that my share may help inspire others to do so and give it a whirl. Immediately I had 6 people sign up, which was amazing, then half way through the week I lost 2, and now was down to 4 people. I have almost 500 people on my email list, and even sent out a second blast hoping to fill more slots. BUT it wasn't happening on the emails, and now here I am faced with a feeling of embarrassment of only having 4 show up and what would that say about my demand and skills. So I started texting like a Mad Woman lol! I think I must of sent out 30 some texts, I lost count, but all the sudden I was connecting just like I do in person when I'm out and about. I reached out to friends and past buyers and much to my surprise they were so happy and excited to join. Within 4 days I had increase my class from 4 to 11 people. WOW!! Where did all this magic come from, I would say it's from what Maria and Oliver have been instilling in us. I was brave, resourceful, and thought why not. Worst I would get was a No or just a no response. I even had others say sorry I can't this time but please keep me in mind for future dates. This is a bit of a long story to share for my win, but the class went amazing, we had so many laughs and good times. I followed up with all attendees and they want to do it again. The other greater feeling of joy came from when I got this feedback. "I had a blast, it was nice to be around other people. I never get to do that. I don't have friends. You did an amazing job! Can't wait for the next one. Thanks for today!" Now aside from I was creating art and filling each one of these souls with a piece of me, the bigger picture came into mind this is my WHY, and why I LOVE art.
