WORKOUT TODAY AT NBPA FACILITY IN NYC
Huge shoutout to @Jamal Anderson and @John Lin for coming out to NYC today to help with our workout with Mac McClung! It was great to connect in person with our Skool Members and get on the court together! Looking forward to many more in-person experiences like this to come 🔥 A Glimpse into the workout below 👀

What are your tips for someone who can’t really shoot at all?
Have a incoming freshman that can do everything literally but hit a jump shot!

I do a lot of shooting, I tell my students that #1. Shooting a lot sometimes isnt a good thing, especially with bad form. I would rather them shoot 25 shots with good form, than 100 shots with bad form. #2. I would usually start with catch and on a spot, but instead of doing 10 makes per spots, start off with 50% each spot out of 10. If they dont make it that constraint you rep it out until he makes 50% or whatever your constraints are. #3. Just like every skill, let them know it is not something they can rush. If they rush, they put more pressure on themselves, which then lead to less confidence in their shot #4. And but not least, which i think is most important in shooting is balance. His footwork has to be good so he can be balanced when he is shooting! hope this helps!
L of the week…
Had a small training session with two people… Their level in basketball definitely has a big difference. They want a 2 person training but the skill hap is so wide.I ran some small sided games so they can learn and influence each other… but one ended up getting hurt, and is a good prospect coming out of high school. Never had someone hurt during practice before. What do i do now? Also currently taking them to the hospital to check on it. (There was a collision and one fell on top on the other’s knee)
No Pain, No Gain!💪
I am sure we all have grown up with the catch phrase "No Pain, No Gain"! mentality. Just curious on the thought on this phrase nowadays? Is it more outdated or should we still emphasize this phrase? Is it more harmful or helpful for player development?

I definitely grew up around this phrase. Even when I got a jammed finger, my coach would say you got 9 other fingers. Or in practice, "Leg Day" especially, training to the point you can't walk properly haha (good old times). But I recently noticed in player's (children and adult) that everybody learn different. Some may learn through hand-on activity, through exhausting amount of reps, where as other learn quicker visually with small breakdown on each movement. So I've noticed that pain doesn't always mean improvement? But i do acknowledge the fact that when is comes the strength training... no pain, no gain. It is not an outdated phrase. But when it comes to skill training... i think otherwise now?
