Day 22/56 Your First 56 Days Challenge
Good morning, Fluent & Free! I hope you had a relaxing weekend! Today is Day 22 and your challenge is all about your CHILDHOOD. 🎯 Your challenge: Talk about your childhood for at least 2 minutes. Here are song ideas you can use for your videos: - Where you grew up - What you were like as a child - Your favorite childhood memories - Games you used to play - Your favorite foods, shows, or movies - Something you miss about being a kid - A funny or embarrassing childhood story Don’t worry about making it perfect. The goal is to speak, think, and express yourself in English; and of course receive feedback so you can see what you’re doing good and what you need to improve 🚨NEW: Recorded Live Sessions I’m also starting to make our recorded classes available inside the community! You’ll now find a new module called “Recorded Live Sessions” under the Classroom tab. So, if you missed Saturday’s class , or simply want to watch it again, go check it out! Can’t wait to see your responses in the comments. Let’s go! 🔥

@Renata Cordeiro I really enjoyed your video! Instead of saying “some of them were a little scare,” you would say “some of them were scary.” “Scary” describes something that makes you feel afraid, while “scared” describes how a person feels. Also, instead of saying “one of the most favorite things to do was,” you would say “one of my most favorite things has to do was.” I’m glad you had a good childhood. I truly believe that sometimes simple is better. It sounds like you have some really good memories from growing up, and I really enjoyed hearing you talk about them.
Day 21/56 - Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Morning everyone! ☀️ I’m still sick and my voice is still not great. I took the day off work today to rest and, hopefully, I’ll feel better soon. I’m trying to save my voice as much as possible because I really want to be ready for our class tomorrow. So today (again), instead of recording my challenge right away, I’m going to write my script about the topic and record it when my voice is better. TODAY’S CHALLENGE Is social media good or bad? 🎥 MY SCRIPT Hi, I’m Mackenzie And I’m giving myself 56 days to speak English more confidently. Today is Day Twenty-One, and my challenge is to answer: Is social media good or bad? I think social media is good, but I also think it can be very dangerous. Social media is a great way to communicate, connect with people, get information, and even build a business. Personally, I use social media mostly for work nowadays. However, one of the biggest problems is that it can make us waste a lot of time. You can open an app just to check something quickly, and suddenly you realize you’ve been scrolling for an hour. That’s why I try to follow only a few accounts. I don’t want to spend my entire day consuming content that doesn’t really add anything to my life. In my opinion, social media is a great tool when you use it intentionally. But when you start losing control of how much time you spend on it, it can become a problem. So, I think social media is good, but we need to be careful about how we use it. Now is your turn! I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say in the comments 👇🏻

@Isabela Bezerra Jorge I really enjoyed your video, and I agree with what you said about social media and technology. A couple of small corrections: • Instead of “you must to pay attention,” you could say “you must pay attention.” After “must,” we use the base form of the verb without “to.” • Instead of “is to talk about social media is good or bad,” you could say, “Talk about social media. Is it good or bad?” This sounds more natural because you are giving an instruction and then asking a direct question. I agree that social media connects a lot of people around the world. At the same time, I do think adults need to have limits on their screen time too. I also think it is important for people who use social media and computers to stay up to date with technology. Technology is becoming such a big part of our lives, and we need to keep learning so that we can continue to function in a world that will be even more technology focused when we are older.

@Renata Cordeiro I really enjoyed your video. You did a great job sharing your thoughts. Instead of saying “good e,” you would just say “good.” “Good” is already the correct word, so you don’t need to add the extra sound at the end. Instead of saying “it allow us,” you would say “it allows us.” We add “s” to the verb when the subject is singular, such as “it.” For example, “It allows us to communicate.” I also agree with you that social media can be a good tool for communicating with people, especially when you live in different countries. It makes it much easier to stay connected with friends and family who are far away. I really enjoyed hearing your perspective on social media!
Day 36/56 - Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Happy Friday, everyone! Welcome to Day 36 of 56! You are officially 64% of the way through the challenge! You did an amazing job this week with storytelling. You definitely stepped outside your comfort zone, learned new ways to express yourself, and challenged yourself to communicate in different ways. I’m so proud of everyone who continues to show up and put in the work! For today’s challenge, we’re going to watch a Steve Jobs video about an invention that literally changed the world. ➡️ https://youtube.com/shorts/yukKoFJr_4w?is=IYUFJN6gzY4PKOEr After watching, answer these three questions: • What problems does Steve Jobs see with the device he is presenting? • How does he plan to solve these problems? • How has this invention changed the way we use technology today? Make sure you watch my video and check the lesson script before you start. Then, use your own words as much as possible to express your thoughts about what you watched. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in class tomorrow! We have a special guest, Tyler, joining us, and I think it’s going to be a really fun lesson. 🏀 Once again, congratulations on everything you’re accomplishing. Keep showing up, keep speaking, and keep pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. See you tomorrow in class!

@Marcia Saiter I really enjoyed your video. You did a great job explaining your thoughts. Instead of saying “one of his concerns was the keyboard was made with plastic,” you could say “one of his concerns was that the keyboard was made from plastic.” We use “that” to connect the first part of the sentence with the information explaining what his concern was. “Made from plastic” also sounds more natural when describing the material something is made of. Instead of saying “we need to watch very carefully,” you could say “we need to be very careful.” “Watch” means to look at or observe something, while “be careful” means to act with caution, which is what you mean in this context. I completely agree with you. I think if we are going to put time limits on children, we should also put some limits on ourselves as adults. Technology and social media can be useful, but I think it is important for us to have a healthy balance too. I really enjoyed your video and the message behind it.

@Larissa Maria Prado Coelho You did a great job sharing your thoughts. Instead of saying “it would be a tremendous cost to that,” you would say “it would be a tremendous cost for that.” We use “cost for” when we are talking about the amount of money or resources needed for something. Also, you pronounced “Nokia” correctly. I feel a little nervous about Neuralink as well. I like the idea of it, but it is a little crazy to think about. It actually makes me understand how some people probably felt when cell phones first came out and when the Internet became part of everyday life. New technology can be exciting, but I can also understand why some people might feel nervous about it. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this topic.
Day 33/56 Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Day 33 is here! Welcome to another storytelling challenge! Today, we’re watching “The Hardworking Mother.” Make sure to check out the script and watch the video carefully. And remember: don’t overthink it! Just watch the story and retell it in your own words. You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/drCMd7Jr2Sg?is=DClPXVYwH7Hfki0e You don’t have to remember every detail or use perfect English. Just tell the story the best way you can. I’m absolutely loving seeing your progress and watching you step outside your comfort zone with these activities. That’s exactly how we learn to speak English: we practice, we make mistakes, and we keep going! Let’s do this! 🗣️⛓️‍💥 🇺🇸

@Larissa Maria Prado Coelho I really enjoyed this video that we watched today. You did a great job sharing your thoughts about it. Instead of saying “today, we saw a video,” you would say “today, we watched a video.” “Watched” is more natural when you intentionally spend time viewing a video. “Saw” can sound more like you happened to see the video, such as when you were scrolling through social media and came across it. I also agree that kids sometimes set a really good example for adults. I think there is a lot that adults can learn from children, especially when it comes to kindness and helping others.

@Luciano Paes You did a great job sharing your thoughts and connecting them to your own life. Instead of saying “hard work mother,” you would say “hard working mother.” “Hard working” is an adjective that describes a person, while “hard work” is a noun that describes the effort someone puts into something. Instead of saying “when the others took a look at what she was doing,” you could say “when they realized what she was doing” or “when they noticed what she was doing.” These expressions sound more natural when you mean that someone became aware of what another person was doing. I think it’s great that you set a good example in your house. I think it’s important for men to lead by example so their kids can learn from them and grow up to be good people. I’m also so glad that you’re enjoying the classes. I’m enjoying them too, and I’m really looking forward to our next live session.
Day 31/56 Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Today’s challenge is a little different: I want you to tell me a joke! This will also help you get ready for tomorrow’s live class with me, where we’re going to use jokes in English to work on vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency in a fun way. The joke I shared in today’s challenge was: Why was the picture sent to jail? Because it was framed. 😂😂😂😂 The joke is funny because “frame” has two meanings. A frame is what you put around a picture, but to frame someone also means to falsely make someone look guilty of a crime. So… the picture was literally framed AND supposedly framed for a crime. 😅 For your challenge, you have a few options: 🎥 Record a video telling the joke and explaining why it’s funny. OR Record a video telling the joke and explain the joke in writing. Make sure you check the script attached to this post for some ideas of what you can say. I also included some recommendations for places where you can find more jokes in English, including Google, YouTube, and even AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. You can use the prompt from the challenge to find jokes that are short and easy to understand. And remember: don’t worry about finding the “perfect” joke. The goal is to practice your English, have fun, and challenge yourself to explain something in English. I can’t wait to see all your jokes! And I can’t wait to see you all tomorrow for our live session!

@Raphael Vasconcelos I really enjoyed your video. I liked your joke too. It was very funny! Instead of saying “why does Lula doesn’t have this finger,” you would say “why does Lula not have this finger?” When we use “does” to form a question, the main verb stays in its base form, so we use “have” instead of “doesn’t have.” You could also say “I only have dirty jokes on my mind.” However, what you said is correct as well. “On my mind” is a natural expression when you are talking about something that you keep thinking about. I really enjoyed your video and your sense of humor. The joke definitely made me laugh!

@Marcia Saiter I really enjoyed your video. You did a great job, and congratulations on making it to day 31! Instead of saying “today’s day 31st,” you would just say “today is day 31.” We use the cardinal number “31” when we are talking about the number of the day in a series. “31st” is an ordinal number, which we would use when talking about something like “the 31st day.” Instead of saying “I got this at the Internet,” you would say “I got this from the Internet.” We use “from” when we are talking about where we got information or something from. For example, “I got this information from the Internet.” I’m not good at knowing jokes either. I always have to look up my jokes too. I think I’m funnier when there’s a conversation going on, but I might be the only one who thinks I’m funny. kkkkk
