Water/Waste Water Operators
Who in this group enjoys having clean drinking water or water to flush your toilet 🚽? Raise your hand. 🤚We tend not to think of how the sausage is made. The water just magically appears and we go on our merry way. But have you thought about where the water comes from? How it is treated so that it's safe? There's a whole crew of people working at water/waste water treatment plants to bring us our clean water. 🥛There is a huge demand for water and waste water operators at treatment plants. I know because I've been to their trainings and began an internship program to funnel potential operators from high school into those jobs. It's an excellent career for someone who enjoys working with their hands, wants to start work right out of high school, and doesn't necessarily want to go to college. They may event start out at $15-20 with no certification and once certified that could double.🤑 As we go I would love for people to add other careers they think could be of importance to our youth. Do you know of an interesting career?

Honestly the water waste treatment facility doesn’t sound like a bad choice at all for someone who wants stability and the paycheck to be consistent. I imagine there are a lot of good jobs like that. My real dad worked for a city here in Washington making amazing money until something not so cool happened with a supervisor but he was able to work for 25 years which helped him tremendously when his health prevented him from working. I can imagine being able to help kids transition from high school into a career as a counselor would be an amazing job.

Covid did something that will forever change the way our lives go. I couldn’t believe no one really rallied against it. It’s almost like our world was just tired. Also it didn’t help to blame China, despite the fact the Chinese take lower wages and most people write them off , they have a phenomenal culture. It’s absolutely amazing, over 1000 years documented and preserved.
What Would You Change?
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a singer. 🎤 I remember my dad telling one of his friends, "I could turn her into a singer if I wanted to." An odd memory. Or did I dream it? I tend to think it happened because I remember thinking later, "Then why didn't you?"🧐 I loved to sing. I loved music. 🎶Listened to it all the time. But I never remembered my dad saying anything else. Now, my mom wanted the two us to be the Judds. A mother and daughter singing team. Yet, she never made any effort to make it happen. Then I wanted to be writer. I remember writing a song at 10 years old called "Catastrophe". 🤯The chorus went something like "C-A-T-A-S-T-R-O-P-H-E.....catastrophe...that's all you've been to me." I could have been the one to teach the masses how to spell catastrophe just as Gwen Stefani taught us all how to spell bananas🍌....B-A-N-A-N-A-S...you sang the letters in your head didn't you? 😂 I wrote poems, stories, read my funny stories to my mom to make her laugh. I LOVED writing. ✍️It was my outlet. But back then the only way I knew to be a writer was to write a book. Who was I to try and become a best selling author? I had the conversation with my son not long ago and I was explaining to him that I would have loved to have a career in a creative world. That my parents supported going to college 📚but beyond that I was on my own. To them a degree=money. And then I went and picked a career that was a calling....not a moneymaker 🤑...being a therapist. I wasn't satisfied there either so I found other ways to help people. I have been blessed to help many people. But what if...and hear me out...my parents had fostered my creativity. 💫Where would I be today? I fully recognize we cannot change the past and I know my parents did the best they could. This is why it's so important for me to support my kiddo in his dreams. 🤩I want to support parents and help them listen 🙉to their kids and help their kids find a career they love.

I wanted to be an actress. Unfortunately I was the oldest and my parents needed me to co parent with them so it wasn’t in the cards because as soon as I got old enough I searched for a fast way out and became pregnant at 17. Fast forward to now I’m climbing fifty pretty quick and well, at this moment I need to worry on my health and how to support myself so yeah here I am on line making a start.

Introduction
Hello you beautiful souls! My name is Tonya and I am supporting my son on his career journey. I thought, surely other parents need help in this area so why not support others along the way? I want to create a community of resources for parents to help their children find their passion and turn it into a career. There are lots of ways to do that which we will explore along the way. I have one biological son at home in high school and his desire is to make music and be a part of the Nerdcore Party Con (NPC) world. Don't know what that is? Just ask! I have two step-children who have pretty much flown the coop and are doing well! Make an introduction post and tell us about yourself, how many kids you have, what are their career interests, or how you can offer support to parents in this community! So excited to be here and I can't wait to get to know you all!

Hello everyone! I’m Charlotte nice to meet you all. I am currently in Washington State. I have 4 children, my youngest just turned 22 and my oldest just turned 29. The middle two are 23 and 26. Three girls one boy. My second daughter went to School at WWU in Ellensburg for 6 years and accomplished two BAs her major was digital journalism and she made Event planning a secondary major. She minored in Dance and contemporary Art. So she obtained two degrees and handfuls of certificates. She can either teach somewhere or dive deep into her craft. During her senior year at college she got pregnant. She lives with her husband and my youngest daughter here in Tacoma and has chosen to raise her daughter for a bit while doing freelance writing till she chooses to go to work. My youngest is home yet hasn’t decided a career path and my oldest is in California pursuing acting. Thank you for having me.

I’d like to learn more about resources or suggestions for Autistic Adults. My youngest daughter has Asburgers and right now we are struggling with just how much help she will need. Luckily we got her graduated from Highschool, she wanted to be accepted to college but she’s had a lot going on with trying to get in and stuff.
