So, i thought i knew at least a tiny bit about mixing live drums. Turns out its a whole universe of its own. Maybe because i have played in a band as a bass player, although a short time, i do not like the mixing guides that end up sounding like nothing like a real drum session. It sounds anything but live. It might sound like drums, but live? I dont get it, with all the mics available why destroy the recording from live to sterile? Maybe i have watched bad advice videos or simply do not understand the intent of that mixed drums are not the recorded drums. How do you mix your live recorded drums? Share your process. Yes i understand differen sound for different types of songs. But the basic principles are the same, its a live recorded drum kit, it should sound like one , right?
