JHU v UD fall ball tape
This just was fed to me on YouTube... kinda fun to see fall ball footage at the D1 level. You see the raw talent, skill and athleticism on display before everyone gets locked into game plans and systems.

Both teams running a lot of pick/pairs action
SMU is getting Division I lacrosse! 🥍
On the cool scale, where does SMU rank among schools you'd love to see add a lacrosse program? Dallas, Texas. Big-time athletics. A pretty unique destination for college lacrosse. Scale of 1–10, how cool of an addition is SMU? And what school would you love to see make the jump next?

I don't know if they will be competitive, but, Texas having a D1 program is a big step for that area. There are just so many players down there and it seems to be growing/getting better every year. HS teams are investing big $ to bring in coaching talent. Who knows if that will lead to direct recruitment of TX players, but, at least they are giving it a shot
Stats
What is your favorite lacrosse stat or analytic? What is the "weirdest" stat/analytic that you like to track and why?

@Chaun Klemetsrud I love the offensive ground ball stat. It’s like offensive rebounds in basketball. Great way to potentially come up with some sort of true efficiency rating because an offensive ground ball is directly getting back a possession that you lost due to a turnover (or save) so those GBs would be weighted more heavily.

@Reed Peterson This is a really cool stat too - might not even show up as a Caused Turnover, but, could disrupt quality scoring chances by the opponent. A tipped skip pass, even if you don't get the ball, saves a quality look - if the offense then takes a lesser quality shot or throws the ball away later in the possession, that tipped pass is correlated with your defensive Efficiency
Old Drill I Found - GB SWINGS
I was digging through an old folder and found this drill - looks like it was created winter of 2014. I remember making this up during a training session in the gym at Highland Catholic Middle School (yay space constraint). It was just a way to get ground balls, stick work and finishing all in one drill and have it be meaningful for a small group of mixed positions. I think as I got older, I got in a bad habit of leaving simple, easy, drills behind. But this is an awesome multi - player drill to not only get stickwork reps, but, could be the base to more stuff. As I am writing this I envision I could throw in a goalie and Player 2 could turn into a defender as soon as they swing the ball to Player 3 for a 1v1 to the goal 🤷‍♂️

Team Taglines
I know team taglines are popular with teams, especially putting that in this time of year during planning... Some teams use the same one all the time (ex. Syracuse Head.Heart.Hustle) and some change from year to year with input from the players themselves. Three big ideas that were used with my team last year: 1. "Climb" - referring to "Climbing the mountain" - just trying to be process focused and let the outcome take care of itself. 2. "Champions on our worst day" - literally meaning, raising our level of play to where our worst was good enough to win, but figuratively, not letting our emotions dictate the behavior of a championship team. Can I do what I need to do on days I don't feel like it or don't have the juice? 3. "A lot to accomplish but nothing to prove" - this comes from the fact that our team was finally relevant. Finally a team in contention. Still not a ton of widespread respect (at least it felt that way). But we can't be trying to "prove ourselves" instead we should be trying to "accomplish our goals" - tries to reframe the mindset into focusing internally and blocking the noise. What did you guys use? Or, what are your favorites over the years?
