The Pricing💰Strategy That Converts
Price anchoring is a simple pricing strategy that guides buyers toward the option you want them to choose—without telling them what to buy. When it comes to self-publishing, your paperback is usually where the best royalties live. So the goal is to make the paperback feel like the smartest, most reasonable choice. You do that by anchoring the prices around it. 👉 How this works with books: - Your ebook should not be dirt cheap - Your hardcover should be priced noticeably higher - Your paperback sits right in the middle and looks like the best value People don’t compare prices logically—they compare them relatively. 👉 Example pricing strategy Let’s say your book is 180–220 pages: - eBook: $9.99 - Paperback: $14.99 - Hardcover: $27.99 Here’s what happens psychologically: - The hardcover makes everything else feel affordable - The ebook feels less attractive because it’s close in price to the paperback - The paperback looks like the best bang for the buck Most buyers will choose the paperback—even if they didn’t plan to. 👉 Why this increases royalties - Paperback royalties are higher than ebooks - Buyers feel confident they’re making a “smart” purchase - You’re not forcing decisions—you’re guiding them This is why pricing is not random and not something to rush through at the end. Your book is a product. Your pricing is part of the strategy. If this helped, click for you, drop a comment, and let me know how you are planning to price your books.

@Liisa Reimann It goes by number of page reads. But I’m 1000% positive that @Krista Brea can provide a much more detailed explanation.
Books.by?
@Krista Brea — Do you know anything about books.by? Any thoughts on using it vs KDP?

@Krista Brea Although I need to get the business book finished, I really feel like I should focus on the dog book series. A lot of people have shown interest, and it's a topic I'm passionate about. I've been meaning to write these books for 10 years.
Book Title Brainstorm
In this thread, drop in 3-5 book title ideas you have and let's workshop them together.

@MJ Berst I like 1, 3, and 4, for different reasons. I think they all work for different audiences/different angles of the same topic. 1 is more playful and personal 3 is descriptive and speaks to the exact person the book is written for 4 is more serious but may need refinement so people know what kind of grief is being discussed (is it specific to male/female relationships, loss of a child, pet grief, etc. — there are different levels of grief so may be helpful to define a little more clearly)

Still working on book titles. For my dog book series, I was thinking about calling it the Canine Chronicles. I know there's already a series called that, but I think they're more children's books. My books are not children's books. For more business book, I was originally thinking about Book Your Business, which is a play on booking your business by writing a business book. The subtitle is a really important piece of the overall puzzle, so I need to work through these a little more.
