🌿 Welcome to Grounded Roots Parenting! (START HERE) A softer way to live, parent, and grow!
Hi everyone, I’m Ellie, I am from the UK I love my children, plants, bulbasaur and my community! Thank you for being here. Please do introduce yourself in a new post!! I wanted to create a space that feels calm, gentle, and real… somewhere we can talk about parenting, home life, mindfulness, and the messy, beautiful chaos in between. This space is for: ✨ Mindfulness that fits real life ✨ Neurodivergent-friendly support ✨ Activity Ideas ✨ Understanding SEN, ASD and ADHD ✨ Honest chats, no judgement at all A bit about me: I’m Level 3 qualified in Childcare, Learning & Development having worked in childcare for 20+years, and a mum with lived experience supporting ADHD and autistic children. Most of what I share comes from real life — things that have actually helped me stay grounded, connected and sane on the hard days. Random facts - I have a 3 children, I'm pretty good at photography and I have a Hcert in engineering! I’m really glad you’re here. Let’s grow softer, stronger roots together. Please drop a post, say hello!👋 💚🌿

@Nova Maree-Prophet Welcome, Nova 🌻 This sounds like such a grounded and intentional life you’re building for your family. Homeschooling, creativity, and caring for yourselves takes a lot of heart. Glad you’re here.
🌟Teaching emotional skills, not just stopping behaviours.🌟
Children don’t come into the world knowing how to handle frustration, anger, or disappointment — they learn it from us. When a child hits, shouts, shuts down, or melts, it isn’t because they’re “naughty,” it’s usually because they’ve reached the limit of the skills they currently have. In that moment, they’re using the only tool available to them — and it might not be a healthy one yet. Instead of focusing on stopping the behaviour straight away, think: “What skill does my child need to do this differently next time?” Naming feelings, practising calm-down strategies, modelling how we cope, and repairing after conflict all build a toolbox they can draw from in the future. Skills don’t grow in silence — they grow in connection, repetition, and practice. What we teach quietly in the everyday moments becomes what they use when things get big. ✨ 1. One-line parent reflection question: “When my child is overwhelmed, do they see me react or regulate?” (And no shame — we’re learning too.) --- ✨ 2. ND-specific adaptation: Many ND children don’t automatically learn emotional skills through consequence — they need explicit modelling, scripts, and repetition. Short, predictable phrases work best: “Pause–breathe–try again” “I need space, I’ll be back” “It’s okay to be upset, it’s not okay to hurt.” Repetition isn’t failure — it’s practice. --- ✨ 3. Graphic idea to go with it: A simple, calm visual with three phrases: Big Feeling → Pause → Safe Action “You’re frustrated” “Let’s breathe” “Here’s what we can do instead” (I have provided an example below)

@Ellie Hayes Hello, How're you doing today? I’ve been paying attention to your Skool community and it’s clear you’ve built something with real potential. Most creators never get the foundation right but you did. I specialize in helping Skool owners turn that foundation into predictable growth by improving how members engage activate and stick around without requiring you to post more or add extra workload. If you want I can put together a quick breakdown of the biggest opportunities I see for your community to grow faster and deliver even more value to your members. No pressure at all. I simply enjoy supporting communities that are already doing the hard part right. If it resonates I can also help you implement the improvements.
