Over the course of 37 years, I’ve raised three children and helped coparent five grandchildren. I’ve been a nanny, teacher, tutor, aftercare activities director, horseback riding instructor, and probably a few other things I’m forgetting. Somehow, through all of that, I’ve made it this far without having to navigate a broken bone. Until yesterday. My oldest son was knocked off his electric scooter by his Weimaraner and landed on his elbow. Twelve hours in the ER later, we have our first fracture and an orthopedic follow-up ahead. When my kids were young, I was the mom who reached for homeopathy, herbs, nutrition, and whatever else I could research alongside conventional care. Peptides weren’t even on my radar back then. Which means something rather unusual has happened: I’m the one entering unfamiliar territory. I have no firsthand experience with peptides or other emerging approaches in bone and fracture repair. I’ve started looking at the research, but I don’t want A Second Look to become a place where everything originates with my research or my opinions. That rather defeats the purpose of having a community full of curious people with different experiences and areas of knowledge. So I’m throwing this one out to you. What have you come across regarding peptides, bioregulators, or other approaches being researched in connection with bone healing and fracture repair? Studies, mechanisms, things you’ve researched, things you’ve personally explored. Bring it all. And if the evidence is weak, conflicting, or nonexistent, that belongs in the conversation too. He’ll be following up with orthopedics, of course. This isn’t about replacing appropriate fracture care. I’m interested in what may be worth investigating alongside it. He’s been open to peptides before, so this may turn into a very interesting rabbit hole. Apparently, after 37 years, there really is a first time for everything. 😂
