Your Hidden Strength Isn't Hiding. It Is Waiting.
Every experience, every challenge, every new skill, and every difficult conversation reshapes the neural pathways that influence how you think, move, feel, and respond. This lifelong ability is called neuroplasticity. ‼️ But neuroplasticity has one requirement: The brain must encounter something it cannot already do- growth begins where certainty ends. When you face a challenge, your nervous system immediately evaluates one question: 👉 Am I safe enough to adapt? If the challenge is overwhelming, the brain shifts toward protection. Learning becomes harder, attention narrows, creativity decreases, and the only goal becomes survival. But when the challenge is difficult enough to stretch you, yet manageable enough that you can recover, something remarkable happens- the BRAIN begins to reorganize. 🌻 👉👉👉 This week, choose one thing that feels just outside your comfort zone. Not a giant leap. Just one intentional step. Then notice what your body learns. Because hidden strength isn't something you find. It's something you build, one challenge at a time.

The way I will stretch my brain and something that has been on my heart to try because going outside is so painful but I have swim competitively my whole life and I have not swam since 2022 and I think maybe by doing something that brings me joy and the sensation of the cool water on my skin I think will be a stretch for my brain definitely and so comforting to my body though something familiar before the pain. But what will this be teaching my brain? My body? Usually I step outside and my body’s alarm immediately goes off and the nerves of my skin burn. I’ve been walking outside every day, but I think incorporating the cool water on my skin and the fun in the pool. It will be good.

So excited to finally take my first class with you, Zina. I find my diaphragm is stuck right around the edges near my stomach. I can even feel that one side is more available than the other. Sometimes my belly gets so heavy with holding stored stress and emotion that I can barely stand up straight, and I find that breathing into my belly during these times, almost stimulates cramping and gripping… How could we help this, Zena?
What do you catch yourself repeating the most?
“I’m behind.” “I’m not doing enough.” “I need to push more.” The body hears this as instruction. Jaw tightens.Breath shortens.System braces. The shift is not one powerful thought. It’s what you repeat daily. Try this today: “I notice.” “I soften.” “I don’t need to hold this right now.” Repeat it a few times.Notice what changes. Most of what we call “being blocked”is actually a pattern we practice every day. Not just in the body…but in how we talk to ourselves 👉 Curious—what do you catch yourself repeating the most?

I feel like I try so hard every day from the moment I wake up to do everything “right and perfect” for my healing journey and if I don’t, I will backslide or have a setback so there’s a lot of pressure I put on myself to do everything perfectly. Sometimes I go to sleep and I’m thinking I could’ve done one extra exercise, etc… It’s never enough.

I’m curious how you help your body truly understand, “I don’t need to hold this right now,” and actually let it go. For me, so much of it comes from taking on other people’s emotions, and I think that’s where my need for control can show up too, like I’m trying to protect myself from everyone else deciding things for me. I tend to carry it all in my gut and heart space, and lately I’ve been practicing deep belly inhales with loud, audible exhales, almost like I’m giving my body permission to release what isn’t mine to carry.
THURSDAY...Don’t wait for Monday to start.
Don’t wait for the perfect morning. The perfect mood. The perfect amount of sleep. The perfect energy. The perfect version of yourself. The days that truly count are often the days when it is not perfect. The days when resistance shows up. The days when willpower is required. The days when the old pattern says: “Not today.” “I’m too tired.” “I already failed.” “I’ll start again next week.” “I need to do it perfectly or not at all.” That is the moment to pause. Not to push. Not to shame yourself. Not to force your body into discipline. But to listen. ‼️ 👉 Ask: Is this an old pattern speaking? Is this my nervous system protecting me? Is my body asking for rest, or is it asking for one tiny step? What do I need to get the wheels rolling today? Maybe the practice is not one hour. Maybe it is five minutes. Maybe it is one breath. Maybe it is standing up, feeling your feet, softening your jaw, and choosing one small action. Progress is not built only on the days when everything feels easy. It is built on the days when you choose to stay in a relationship with yourself. Not by pushing harder. But by listening deeper. So today, don’t wait for Monday. Begin with the smallest honest step your body can say yes to.

This has been so true in my own healing. I had to go from being bedridden to literally one walk to the kitchen and back. Then it became: rest, one small task, rest. Rest, one tiny movement, rest again. I had to teach my brain that movement did not mean I was about to overdo it, push past my limits, or be unsafe in my body. Rest was always coming. Safety was always coming. And slowly, that helped my nervous system begin to trust movement again. I think if you’re living with a partner, something that also gets overlooked, is that letting someone see how much rest you actually need can been very vulnerable. (Where all my guilt comes from)
MONDAY : WHERE ARE YOUR BOUNDARIES IN THE BODY?
This week, we are exploring boundaries. Not only as something we say with words. Not only as “no.”Not only as a wall. Boundaries also live in the body. They live in the way we sense. The way we speak. The way we reach. The way we stop. The way we protect. The way we contain. The way we choose. The way we stay flexible without collapsing. The way our feet meet the ground. This is not about judging yourself. This is about noticing. 👉 1. SENSES Your eyes, ears, skin, nose, and mouth. What do you let in? What feels too loud, too much, too close? 👉 2. VOICE Your throat, jaw, tongue, and mouth. Can your voice say yes? Can your voice say no? Can your voice ask for time? 👉 3. REACH Your arms and hands. Where do you overextend? Where do you reach because you love, and where do you reach because you feel responsible for everything? 👉 4. EDGE Your skin, your personal space, the field around you. Can you feel where you end and someone else begins? 👉 5. PROTECTION Your shoulders, ribs, jaw, and back body. Where does your body brace? Where does it armor? Where does it say, “I need safety”? 👉 6. CONTAINMENT Your ribs, belly, pelvis, breath. Can you hold your own emotions without leaking them everywhere or swallowing them completely? 👉 7. DISCERNMENT Your belly, gut, heart, and inner listening. Can you feel the difference between desire, fear, guilt, obligation, and truth? 👉 8. CHOICE Your pelvis, legs, and feet. Can you step closer? Can you step back? Can you pause before answering? 👉 9. FLEXIBILITY Your spine, joints, and breath. Can your boundary move and respond, without disappearing? 👉 10. GROUND Your feet and legs, contact with the floor. Do you feel supported enough to have a boundary? ‼️This week’s practice: ASK & OBSERVE‼️ Once a day, pause for one minute and ask: Where do I feel my boundaries in my body today? Where do I override them? Where do I say yes when my body is already saying no? Where do I become rigid when I actually need support? Where can I soften 5% without abandoning myself?

This feels so good to read. It’s beautiful, true, and my body is like, “ finally, someone gets it. thank you.”

After severe jaw surgery and years in darkness from nervous system sensitization, I’m slowly teaching my body light and life is safe again.
