The struggles of living in a small country.
Don't get me wrong, To me, Bangladesh is one of the best countries to live in. The people here are very hospitable and the nature is BEAUTIFUL. But the problem arises when we aren't included in terms of different opportunities. Getting into Ivy League colleges, MIT, or just any internationally renowned college requires students with international impact and credentials. For example, doing internships, researching, making clubs, participating in good pre-collegiate programs, and more. But.... Even after searching for almost a year, I have not found a SINGLE credible opportunity for my field of interest. Programs like RSI, Research competitions, and Internships are mostly available for big countries. Now you might think that there are a lot of things you can do in your OWN country. Well, almost none of the credible Colleges have research programs, cold emailing professors also don't work, clubs are useless in my school (Although some schools have really good clubs) and volunteering opportunities are also rare for high schoolers. I won't say there's nothing to do here. Rather, we have fewer opportunities compared to others. Which restricts our goals. Please include small countries like Bangladesh. We ain't even that small. Anyways, this by no means is meant to offend anyone nor to degrade any country. Fun fact: One of the co-founders of YouTube and Sal Khan from Khan Academy are Bangladeshis.😎
