Tonight I felt strongly drawn to go to the public area of the strip mall up the road where I have made friends with half a dozen struggling people. I did not feel like going, but I did and bought a few things at Dollar Tree. Four of my new friends were there. We chatted. One man, who had had a hard day, banged his fist on the table talking about his day. The beer of another man who also had a hard day fell over and spilled a small part. The younger man who's beer spilled, demanded a new beer. He threatened the older man and suggested a fight. I stepped between them and told them to chill out. They grudgingly listened. Over time, I talked to them about transference of emotion. Forgiveness. Letting go of anger and guilt. They became better men. They learned several lessons. I am very happy I chose to go. Had I not, they would have fought on camera in a lose-lose scenario. I will talk to them in the future about alcohol and pot addiction. Today was not the day. Damage control. It was a good day for mankind!
