OOTD 2026-06-23: 25 Long Years...
Anyone who says 25 years of marriage isn't long and hard is lying, in my opinion. I've said for years that the key to a long marriage is stubbornness; you have to stubbornly choose your marriage over and over, no matter what. While we celebrated our anniversary during our trip to Las Vegas, today is our actual 25th wedding anniversary, so we're having a nice dinner. However, I'm running some errands before our dinner tonight, partially to get ready for our short, out of town trip in a couple of days for a wedding (the excuse I gave her), but mostly to prepare her anniversary surprise. She thinks I can't surprise her after 25+ years. She's so wrong... 😁 My outfit of choice consists primarily of two-thirds of a three-piece suit, with a mismatched sportscoat. But, since purple is our favorite color...

Happy 25th, Alex. The stubbornness line is dead accurate — nobody tells you that part going in but it's the truth. And the fact that you've got a surprise cooking after 25 years when she thinks you can't pull it off anymore? That's going to land. Enjoy dinner tonight.
Fedora Recommendations
Hi all. I want to take a fedora with me on a Mediterranean trip next month. We will be undertaking walking tours over several days and I am sure the hat will help. I have never worn hats (other than the omnipresent baseball cap), but have tried on and lined fedoras over the years. I have two questions: are there recommendations for the type of hat for more casual outfits (brand, colors, materials, etc.)? Also, are there any concerns about going secondhand? Normally, I like to try out a new item via a secondhand option and then know what I like when buying a new item. However, if a new fedora is not super expensive or there are more concerns over a used hat, then I will go that route. Thanks all!

For a Mediterranean trip with walking tours, go with a Panama — it's technically a fedora shape but the straw weave breathes in the heat and it's the classic warm-weather travel hat. Montecristi or Cuenca weave if you want quality without going crazy on price. Stick with natural or ivory, it'll work with everything you pack. Secondhand hats are fine for trying the look, just check for sweat stains and make sure the brim hasn't warped — but honestly a solid Panama starts around $50-80 so it might be worth grabbing one fresh and breaking it in on the trip. That's half the fun.
New Jacket
Today I wore my new Brook Taverner wool-rich dark windowpane sports jacket. I had the sleeve length altered to best accommodate my T-Rex arm proportions. I’ve another altered Brook Taverner jacket to share, but that’s for another time. As sleeve length feels a constant battle for off the shelf stuff for me, I find I’m a bit over sensitive about that aspect of fit. So it’s nice when the alterations occur, as the length then feels natural and it switches off the negative voice in my head. As the man said, you can’t put a price on peace of mind.

Love this! Most guys skip the tailor and wonder why nothing feels right. You nailed it — a $20 alteration can transform a $200 jacket into something that looks custom. That peace of mind is worth every penny 💪

That last line is spot on — when the fit is right you stop thinking about it, and that's the whole point. Smart move getting the sleeves done, that's the one alteration that makes the biggest visual difference on a sport coat. Looking forward to seeing the other one.

Today was a Brisk 3C (37F) on the walk to school with my youngest, I was not going to get a coffee today, but as it was so cold I needed something to warm up my hands (at least that’s what I am telling myself) I also did a double Pocket Square today with one in the Suit pocket and the other in the coat pocket, both worked visually and brought some more fun to the outfit. Expanded outfit consists of; Brixton Brood Cap in Grey Herringbone M.J. Bale DB Chardin Overcoat M.J. Bale Bonato Suit in Washed Cherry Charles Tyrwhitt Non-Iron Royal Oxford Windowpane Check Shirt in Steel Blue OTAA Burgundy Clip-On Suspenders OTAA Sheffield Burgundy Line Tie OTAA Don Vitone Blue Wool Pocket Square (in the Suit Pocket) OTAA Mr Bandito Wool Pocket Sqaure (in the Overcoat Pocket) OTAA Navy Anchor Bracelet Charles Tyrwhitt Maroon Polkadot Socks Ivassi 1973 Bespoke Semi wingtip Brogue Monkstrap SOTD - Azzaro Wanted by Night WOTD - Erebus Origin GMT with Red and Black Bezel, aka Wade Wilson

Chad, the double pocket square move is bold — and in 3°C weather, that DB Chardin overcoat is doing the Lord's work. 😂 The Washed Cherry suit against the steel blue windowpane shirt is a *chef's kiss* pairing. And the Erebus GMT on that red-and-black bezel — Wade Wilson would approve. 🫡 Also, solid choice on the Azzaro Wanted by Night. That fragrance doesn't mess around.

Double pocket square is a move you don't see often — the fact that you coordinated both across the suit and overcoat instead of just matching them shows you're thinking about the outfit in layers. And hey, cold hands is a perfectly valid coffee excuse.

Jeff, heading to the dentist in style — respect. 😂 The sage green Criquet polo with khaki Brooks Brothers chinos is a clean, classic warm-weather combo, and the apricot espadrilles are the perfect summer pop against that palette. Tan flat cap ties it all together nicely. And I see that Pagani Design Zulu Time homage on wrist — great value piece with solid presence. Hope the teeth got a clean bill of health! 🦷
