Jay asked about edible plants… we got him covered.
@Jay Hanan I pulled this together for you — plus a full guide to go with it Truth is, it’s not a buffet out there. Most plants aren’t grab-and-eat A lot need real prep Some look close enough to fool you Even in that guide, first rule is clear: be sure what you’re looking at before you touch it So it comes down to slowing down and making a good call. Start here: What’s one plant you know for sure—no guessing? Where the Map Ends, The WILD begins!! Stay Rugged.

Nice information... when I get time, time what is that, I'll break these down into which one have medicinal value when your in the wild. 200 years ago, everyone knew this info as the basics...
The trip it clicked
The trip that made you realize you were actually getting good at this. What happened?

Be cautious. Anytime you think you are really getting good at this, either nature or Murphy will knock you into a state of not so sure now. Always have respect and be mindful to where when we think we got it, how our judgement can be faulty. You know this is happening in TN when the redneck says: Hold my beer and watch this fellers! Something typically goes a stray...
I’ve pushed past things I should’ve paused on.
Low water. Weather turning. Just enough signs to make you stop — if you let yourself. Most trouble I’ve had didn’t come from gear. It came from moving too fast to read what was right there. Now when something feels off, I give it a second. Look around. Check the margins. Then decide. What’s the first thing you look at when something doesn’t feel right out there?

Situational awareness cannot be stressed to much. I look to my sixth sense. Remember do not go faster than your guardian angel can fly.

@Brandon M Amen to that
New week. April is here.
One outdoor thing you're doing this month (April) that you haven't done yet.

@Valerie Horner If you need any help pulling your herb garden together, please do not hesitate to ask. The last thing a bee wants to do is sting you., its only a threat mechanism. They will typically work the herb flowers mid day so working your herbs early morning or early evening avoids the bees although anything with a flower will draw a pollinator... different bees different flowers although all looking for some nectar.
My kids want to camp, any tips?
We have two tents and it has been 10 years since I camped. My girls are 3 and 7. My wife says let them test camping in the yard. What do you all suggest?

What fun... Yes, I always camped in the backyard a time or two to see if they enjoy... if you do not try the backyard and in the wild, if they got a little scared, we would just move to the car. They will look to you... if scary things are not mentioned, they will probably never think of being scared. Personal flashlights with a wrist band are always good; having a light at all time gives them some security. If doing the backyard, do the whole deal. Cook outside during the day, go for walks, have a campfire, sleep out with them... if playing inside all day and then going out to sleep, really not the same thing. This also gives you an idea of what you want in your camping tote. Much easier to have a camping tote then to be gathering kitchen utensils up everytime you go camping. Remember the coloring books, or story material... fun family time, cherish every second. Also this time of year, download the picturethis plants app and go foraging. Remember the app is only 80% accurate so I double check through a few sources before you eat, although fun to identify your weeds in the yeard and with a little research, you will find many of those weeds have medicinal properties. Overtime when the kids get a cold or cough, you will be teaching them to use natures gifts for medicine instead of petroleum byproduct chemicals at the pharm store. Google what to do in nature. Explore nature with them. That is such a wonderful exploration age. My kids have pretty much all grown and gone... I miss those days you are in the middle of... Take the time, enjoy and explore with them.
