Youtube VS Copyright
Hello, hope you all re having an amazing friday! ๐Ÿ”ฅ I wanted to ask in this community since I know especially @Nikola Gugoski and @Christian Lie among probably many others have a lot of experience with this. I love using examples from famous bands/artists when showing stgh on the guitar, its how I ve been teaching 1o1 here in Vienna all my life, however on youtube when I do that there is this Copyright Claim hovering over my head, some videos get strikes others dont. I dont use original recordings, I simply play the gutiar parts and talk yet those get copyright strikes. I want to record some covers/song breakdowns in the future but dont know if theres any point. How do you guys go about that? Is it not a big deal since it only affects (currently nonexistent) monetisation, or could it end up getting me banned from the platform ? Did you guys really go all the length of attaining official permissions for using tracks? D greatly appreciate some insights from people with more experience. :) Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

Copyright claim and copyright strike are two different things. Copyright claims are more common when covering songs. If you are using the original recording, 99% of the time you'll get a claim, and sometimes the whole video can get blocked (only in a few countries, sometimes worldwide) If you are not using original recordings, you can get claims for covers as well - meaning, you are sharing the revenue with the original rights holder. Nothing serious really. Copyright strikes are a bit serious and 3 of them can terminate your channel. But those are not happening often. Bands like the Eagles and Polyphia are giving strikes from time to time (the owners of the rights that is - not related to the band members). Let me know if you have any questions ๐Ÿ˜‰
Haven't looped in a while
Wanted to practice my timing and play something live without any overdubs, and whatโ€™s better for that than a looper pedal? ๐Ÿ˜ If your timing is bad, the looper will expose you instantly. How do you usually practice timing and rhythm?

@Lucas Bryars yeah, rhythm/timing exercises can get boring pretty quickly. Lopping 'riff' based things instead of simple chords to solo over is a great way to improve rhythm/timing. I needed bunch of takes to get this right because it's a longer phrase and I was changing the tempo. For each new layer it sounded worse and worse haha ๐Ÿ˜†

@Clemens Hackmack thanks Clemens! Really glad you liked it. This is something I wrote almost 10 years ago when I was into 'writing mode' haha ๐Ÿ˜† not sure if I can come up with something similar these days
Gibson Garage
Couple of pics visiting the Gibson Garage in London. Wish I could have bought one, but alasโ€ฆ.

@Clemens Hackmack I've bought a guitar online once without trying it and I'm pretty sure I won't do it again at least for the price I paid. If I had the chance to try it, probably I wouldn't have bought it to be honest. I really don't like the idea of buying instruments online without trying them first

@Christian Lie it was the white Jazzmaster I have. After buying it they removed that model from the website, so apparently it was the last one in the store and it wasn't in the best shape in general. It was buzzing everywhere when I got it and had to take it for a setup. The guy who was setting it up said I should have returned it. But he managed to make it playable
Clementine by Elliott Smith ๐ŸŽธ
Absolutely loved this song since the day i heard it. And it's a lot of fun to play on the guitar as well. Hope this inspires you to learn something new this weekend :)

Sounds amazing man! I definitely should learn this :) Is it in drop D?
Finally wrote a riff
I was changing strings on my acoustic and tuned to DADGAD. Lately I've been very into Emma Harner's playing and wanted to try and write something with natural harmonics. Didn't expected much to be honest haha ๐Ÿ˜† I'm really not into writing mode these last few years. But, I liked how this turned out and decided to share it.

@Lucas Bryars haha ๐Ÿ˜† yeah there are a few riffs actually. Forgot to mention in the post that I basically use the 'method' you were explaining in your video. Didn't really think about theory, just tried to connect notes to sound nice ๐Ÿ™‚
