I want to introduce you to someone many of you have seen posting inside this group… Coach Ashraf Mugerwa Founder of Community Braves Baseball Academy in Lugazi, Uganda. Coach Mugerwa is doing something most of us will never fully understand. He is using baseball to change the trajectory of kids’ lives in a place where: - There is no real field - Very little equipment - No reliable transportation to games - Limited access to education - Limited access to food for many families - And yet… Every single day, 50+ kids show up to learn the game. They run. They throw. They hit. They smile. They work. Because to them, baseball is more than a sport. It is hope. It is structure. It is opportunity. Coach Mugerwa isn’t just teaching baseball. He is: - Helping kids get access to education (school fees, uniforms, supplies) - Providing mentorship and leadership - Creating a safe place for them to belong - Trying to build actual training space and facilities - Working to give these kids a chance to compete beyond their community - Dreaming of a future where some of these kids can play at higher levels internationally Many of us talk about using the game to make an impact. He is living it.
